Ok first off I need some info from anyone. I have real bad gas. I know its gas cuz eventually it finds its way out, but it seems to stay in me all the time!!! I have bad cramps in my side and in my lower belly. Im tired of being in pain!! I know it isnt the baby because I got all checked out and everything is fine. So what in the world am I eating or doing to get all this pain?!?!?! Also do you guys know if it is safe to take antacids? Im going to call my surgeon monday to find out for sure but was wondering if anyone wlse was givin the ok to take them. It hurts to walk and sit the pain is becoming unbearable. I think the baby is too little along to be causing the gas, but could be wrong not sure yet. Any info would help. Ok now for what I ate today. Im almost to the point were I dont want to eat because of all this gas pain. B- 1/2 cup shredded wheat with 1/2 cup milk- I was hoping it would help me move my bowels to get some of this pain away L- protein drink S- 2 peices of string cheese D- not sure yet it might be left over spaghettie I will post later for sure what I eat for dinner- Melissa

My surgeon recommends Gax-X. But since you are expecting, you need to check with your doc. Could you be lactose intolerate? Sometimes we are after surgery. I know if I drink too much milk at any one time, I have problems with feeling icky. Just a thought.

Lyn oh my gosh thank you!! I will definitely have to look into that. Actually both, Ill ask my DR about the gas x. As for the milk, I do notice mostly when I drink too much carb countdown choc milk in one day my stomach girlgles alot and it is so loud it sounds like it is coming out of my mouth. My husband knows im not feeling to well when it makes those noises. Ive never been lactose intolerate, but maybe since the surgery it could be that. It would make sence with all the dairy Im trying to get in for protein and calcium. Is this something we have to figure out ourselves, or is there a test the Dr can do to see if that is what is causing all this pain? Thankyou so much again you are an angel, I wouldve never came up with that, and it makes so much sence now- Melissa

A couple of days ago I had gas really bad!! I narrowed it down to diet Mt. Dew. I had one, two days in a row...and wow...then I quit them and no gas. Go figure. B = skipped...coffee, of course L = bacon, two breads S = turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy...not a lot, but too much! snak = angel food cake with stawberries...which came right back up. but, it was good while it was going down!! Hee Hee. Jeannie

During the first trimester, your levels of progesterone surge, which causes your bowels to slow way down. The result? GAS. So even though your little passenger isn't big enough to be wollopping you just yet, your own hormones may be to blame. The best thing you can do for the pregnancy gas is (yeah, I know I know, you have trouble getting out there as it is) EXERCISE. The more you move, the more it can move on through. Even some stretching/yoga could help. You're doing well to add the fiber-that will help keep your bowels moving. You can experiment with the lactose thing-try a few days without dairy or get some Lactaid (my surgeon approves it but be sure to check with both your surgeon and your OB). My surgeon approves almost everything that was okay pre-op, but I read of others with very restrictive lists. I'm sure you'd do okay to take Tums or other calcium-based antacids, since we do, after all, need the calcium. Your pain could also be caused by stretching ligaments. While your baby hasn't yet grown much, your uterus is growing quickly, and its growth stretches the ligaments and other connective stuff in there, which can really hurt. The ligament pain I had with my daughter was downright alarming and had me on the phone with my doctor a couple of times. I hope your pain goes away quickly. I'm so excited for you being pregnant!! I ate badly today but I did run 6 miles and walk another. B-Nectar L-1/2 Long John Silver's fried fish thingie EWWWW GROSSSSSSS 6 french fries S-Nectar D-3 graham crackers with peanut butter S-tortilla chips with cheese melted on them and salsa S-turtle brownie (can you hear my stomach gurgling and purgling?) Months of getting away with getting my nutrition from vitamins and supplements has really spoiled me. I need to remember to try to get some nutrition from real food for a change. Bad Susan. Very Bad Susan. Hugs, Susan

Susan- Thank youso much! I knew tums was good for pregnancy, but wasnt sure about having them after GBS. Ill check with both Drs to be sure. I really didnt think about all that first trimester stuff, lol. When I was pregnant with Anthony I didnt have any discomforts except morning sickness, untill about my 7 month then I was uncomfortable and knew it was because I was pregnant. Right now knowing the baby isnt far along and I havent gained any weight yet I kept thinking it cant be me being pregnant I must be doing something, lol. Thank you for all th great info!! I know and expect things to be different since GBS and pregnancy, but with my panic attacks and lowered meds it is really hard on my panic. I am the same way getting all my nutrients from vitamins and supplements. My labs are amazing, and I know I dont make all the right food choices, but I am trying especially for the baby. Thanks again hun- Melissa
