Hi Cherrion-
I'm horrified to hear what your son endured. I found a link and thought maybe the ppl there could make a referral for legal help for you. http://www.thefamilyalliance.net/mission.htm
Please keep us updated on what action the school takes/doesn't take.
Good luck!
Hugs,
Susan
Thanks so much Susan. As of now, I am waiting for a call from an attorney who helps low income families. I was referred by a legal advise hotline who felt that I do need representation. I am also having my son see a professional from the institution that first diagnosed his prognosis in 1993. My son is 15 now so they archived all records older than 7 years. Sooo, I am just starting this painful process but the ball is rolling. Again thanks for the links and I will use them

Boy, I'm really steamed on your son's account. As I read, I see that these are not uncommon practices used with autistic people- things like force-feeding and use of so-called "aversives" is apparently a hot legal topic. The fact that this is a current hot topic will hopefully empower you and your son.
If you are unable to find free legal help, and you think it would not be harmful to your son to do so, you might contact local media. Even if you aren't eager to do that, you can always threaten to do so when you meet with the school.
Am I right that they are using this meeting as an excuse for an IEP??? That sounds a bit suspicious to me right now, because it sounds like a way to make it part of your SON'S "problem" and not a meeting specifically to address this TEACHER'S problem.
GRRRRRR. I'm so mad. Please let me know if there's anything I can do for you.
Hugs,
Susan
