Tireddddddddddddd of not losing
Hi, it's been awhile, but I've been going crazy. In september my thyroid started acting up. I stopped losing, and as of today. Have not lost a pound. I had my surgery April, 2004 and am down 60 llbs. I've been tested and do have hypothyroid. Doctor wont medicate me because he says it will clear up on its own. I only have 40 llbs to get to goal. Why me????????? I'm depressed and going crazy. Everyone says I look so good. I don't think so...All I see is fat and flab. Although I'm much smaller, and have not been this size in 15 yrs. I still feel so very fat. I also work out walking and running every day. I don't eat much carbs...
I drink lots of water. I've done research and seems like no matter what the weight will stay with me.
Why are you resistant to be medicated if I can ask? I am on synthroid and have been losing at a good speed. However I would not do any generics of a thyroid medicine I have heard they do not work well. This could be a myth but I know when i did start taking a generic I started gaining. My doc then put me on synthroid and things have been back to normal!
What your seeing in the mirror and what others are seeing is quite common in the WLS world. At a seminar I was at they called it "MORPHING" your brain hasn't caught up to reality yet and its very natural. I too am going through this and many others I have talked with.
take care lisa
Get another doctor honey. I have hypothyroidism and have had it for a few years now. I must say, I thought it would clear up on it's own after I had lost some weight. Well, let me tell ya. I am down 111 pounds and quess what. Yeap! I still have it. I have been on a gernic brand since day one and it hadn't stopped my weight lose at all. Good luck and I hope everything works out!
Rhonda, I am also hypothyroid. I have been taking levothroid since the makers of synthroid refused to submit the drug through the approval process of the FDA. It had been marketed before the process was put in place. I have had no problem since going on Levothroid. Perhaps you could request a referral to an endocrinologist. They specialize in treadment of the endocrine system and disorders of it. It would be a second opinion from an expert. I have not ever heard of a thyroid problem "taking care of itself" It is your health and you must advocate for yourself.. You took charge of the weight issue... Be as assertive with this issue. Good luck. Su Ferguson-Ellia
