To ALL other 8 month POST OPS!!
Hi,
Any 8 month out post ops out there? If so, how much have you lost and how much can you usually eat at one time? I rad several posts on pouch stretching, I have only lost 90 pounds and can eat about a cup of food. Is this too much? Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have also read where some people get a revision, does insurance usually cover this? Is it as expensive? Just wondering.
Sharon
I have lost 97 pounds. It has been horribly slow for me for the last 2 months.
I can eat a ton of popcorn, salad, chips or crackers.
Regular dense food I still cannot eat very much of. Example I ordered 1/2 a applebees salad, and could have made 4 meals out of it, but it lasted 2, it got soggy. There are some days though that I think I could eat the house, but it's usually because of poor choices, chips, crackers, pop corn etc.
I don't think I need a revision though, at least not on my pouch, just my BRAIN!!!LOL
Good luck and keep up the good work!!

Thanks Michelle and all of you who answered my post. It really helps hearing from people who are at about the same point in their journeys!! I applaude all of you for you weight loss, me included. I do have to stop beating myself up and comparing myself to those lucky few who lose so much, so fast. We all need support and I truly appreciate all of yours!
Have a Fantastic Friday!

Sharon,
Whoooooo....you've lost 90 lbs and are wondering about a revision? 90 lbs in 8 months is terrific. Have others lost more, yes, have others lost less, yes. You can't compare yourself to others. Everyone's body is different.
There are days I can eat a cup or more at a time, other days I'm lucky I can eat 3 bites of a meal.
Have you discussed this with your Dr? Do they think there is a problem? Are you feeling ill? Are you following your Drs post-op food plan/protocol to a "T" and still feel it is not working? If you are at all concerned you should get to your Dr right away for a consultation so they can make sure nothing is amiss.
FYI --- revision is possible, but generally only in life threatening situations, such as malnutrition or the inability to stop loosing weight, both of which are extremely rare.
Wishing you continued success,
Pam

HI to everyone that is 8 months post Op!! WE made it this far I am proud of all of us!! I have lost 103 lbs...just writing that is unbelivable. Eating is still tricky for me. Like someone posted, sometimes you can eat the house down with little snacks. Other times a couple of bites and you are stuffed. My biggest problem is eating enough of a portion of food and knowing when to stop. Sometimes I eat and not realizing that I am full I get sick and Other than that I am feeling great. Does any one have any specific foods that they still can't eat other than steak? I wish I could give each of you a big hug for the great accomplishment thus far. Take care!! Love Jennifer
I was just at my surgeon's office for my 9 month checkup....
I am down 159 pounds. As fas as the food amounts - it varies so much. Depending on the food. If it's something like Chili yep I can do about a cup. But if it's something like real meat - it's maybe 4 oz and then a few veggies.
I only know of one person who had a revision. She had the problem of ALWAYS being hungry. It turns out her stoma at the bottom of her pouch was made way too big so it drained in very fast. Something like the size of a quarter instead of the size of a pencil. She did have a revision. I think she only lost 50 lbs in over a year.
The only "test" I have heard that a doctor has done. For the test you eat as much cottage cheese as quick as you can until you feel full. The amount you eat is the size of your pouch. The cottage cheese can't drain as fast you can eat.
Your 90 lbs lost is great. Keep working the plan you and your doctor set forth. Keep it simple, protein, water and exercise.
Thank you Nita, You know maybe you are right about our bodies knowing what we can handle at a time. I have read posts where some believe that you plateau when you reach a previous weight that you were at for a period of time. I really do believe that! So maybe in a few more weeks, my weight will start dropping again and remember that I once did get down to 165 lbs.
Have a great weekend!
