Houston Half Marathon finisher

Well, we did it. We conquered the Half Marathon. Ok, maybe not conquered but finished within the time limit. It was cold but not unbearable. I had a hard time beginning around mile 9. I hadn't had enough calories, I think, to fuel my body. We passed a table around mile 11 with some fruit and after eating about half a banana I started to feel better and we finished strong. We crossed the finish line at 3 hours 58 minutes and 23 seconds. Take five minutes or so off that time because that's how long it took us to cross the start line with the crowd. It was a fun couple of days as my sons and I stayed at the Hilton by Toyota Center with my sister and my niece Saturday night. My husband Stew and daughter Sarah and my sister's family met us at different points along the route and seeing them was always a boost. I'm pretty sore and worn out but feel a great sense of accomplishment. Six months ago I would not have been able to do this. Thanks for your love and support. Melissa 270/170/125 (someday)
