Wohoo!! Great news at last!!!

Got a call from my plastic surgeon's office this morning. UHC called them today to advise that my tummy tuck is approved!!! My surgery date is 01/12/05. I am 1 pound below my goal, and 14 pounds away from my GBP surgeon's goal of 150. My plastic surgeon will do the surgery as long as you are within 20lbs of goal weight and at least 6 months out. I am so happy....now if I only had an insurance company that would approve thighs as well....under my plan they consider thighplasty always as cosmetic. Oh well, someday I'll have the $5000 to get them done. Who knows, I'll probably need breast implants by then too. Congrats Sweety ... I know you are excited . I keep wondering if I will be able to qualify . My skin is not that bad .. Just a little overhang , but it does cause rashes . At this point .. I am fine with it .. as I look better now then I did when I was in highschool . Way to go .. Hugs , Natalie

Hi, Congratulations on your approval. I have a hernia on my left side and the plastic surgeon I went to for a consult said that Blue Cross of Alabama will NOT pay for tummy tuck or paniculectomy. Even if done at the time of hernia repair. Makes me mad. I have lost 90 pounds since surgery and really would like to have some skin removed. But I dont have the cash so................ oh well....... how did you get approval? I dont get these insurance companies.. They change the rules as they go... not fair.......anyway. good luck with your surgery..... Melanie Pigg

I am SO happy for you. I have a very large hernia right above my belly button. It kind of looks like I am pregnant. I have an appointment with my regular doctor tomorrow and I will keep my fingers crossed that they decide to get the ball rolling for a tummy tuck as well as the hernia repair. I don't know that much about hernias and how they repair them but I am hoping to find out more. I am not sure what the requirements are these days with my military insurance so I guess I will look into it. I wish you the best of luck and make sure you take lots of pics.
