6 Month Check Up - NOT!!!!

Want to hear something funny? I was supposed to have my six month check up but have been kicked out of the Videoscopic Institute Weight Loss Surgery Club. (That is where I had my surgery) Want to know why - because I complained. This office owed me $2500 in insurance overpayments. My son had surgery also and lost his job because of it and the doctors office owed us $2500. I called the office on July 26th to find out the amount of my refund. They told me the amount and said because of processing I would not get it until Sept. 15th. Slow I thought - I explained I really needed it but blah blah blah. So I waited - Sept. 23rd came around and no refund check. I called again - it seems the refund checks are mailed out by the head surgeons wife (he did not do my surgery) She put me off again. I finally got mad and on Sept 30th sent a fax to her telling her that if they did not send me m refund I was going to complain to the State Medical Board. I finally got a refund with two registered letters to both my son and I stating that because of the lack of trust all further followups are being terminated. Nice isn't this? I am happy everyone else is getting their checkups but I guess I will not be getting mine. Be careful when choosing a surgeon - some very experienced ones have very large EGOS and do not like to be confronted. Thanks for listening and blessings to all *****ad this post.

Nothing is worse than having a doctor's wife be the office manager!!! First, I would send all the letters you have - both too and from the office, including the dates, and mail them to YOUR surgeon. Or better yet, give him them at the hospital. You know, the surgeon might not even know what the wife did! If that doesn't work send everything to the State Medical Board. What the office is doing is retaliation, pure and simple. State Boards have a huge impact - let them swing their big stick. What do you have to lose? You're not wanted by thier office any way? Kick butt and take names!

Wow, this happened to me with a GYN once. I confronted her about something, and she sent me a letter saying that she wouldn't be my doctor any more. I just hope you can find another place to get your followup. You need to be monitored and you deserve the care. Best wishes Ms. Healthy -120

I would report this surgeon to the Attorney General in your town. Also check out who also does the surgery in your area and see if they will accept you for follow-up. Good luck! -Gerriann Lap RNY 5/14/04

Lisa, I hate that happened to you. I actually used the same practice as you but did use the "head" surgeon as you called him. I actually got a larger than expected check and much sooner than I expected. I'm betting your problem stems from the fact that since you had your surgery the two doctors have separated their businesses. I think they still do surgery together, but keep business separate. Either way, I hate that you now have nowhere to go for your follow up. I wish you and your son much success on your journies. Christie

People often tell me I should have been a lawyer for the people or something cuz I hate to see people walked on by the so called "BIG WIGS" I agree with the others get names and keep copies and journal all the convo's you had. I would send a copy of this to the head surgeon your surgeon state board. Insurance companies all that can read will have a copy. To leave you high and dry for no reason without follow up care or referrals show the kind of surgeon and office that is running out of there. That is not responsible and unexceptable!!!!! Retaliation what is that all about grrrrrr... Get angry Get very angry this is inappropriate. And even if you don't see what a difference your letters make that is okay cuz you caught the attention of someones eye and in the long run this will always linger on in there mind.
