6 mo check up
Hi everyone,
I had my 6 month check up last Monday...been sooo busy w/ the holiday that I haven't had a chance to post until now. Everything went very well. I'm down 91 pounds, my cholesterol has gone from 226 to 170, and my triglycerides are at 125. I do not have to go bac****il my 1 yr anniversary. At that time, my doctor is going to redo all the tests that were done pre-op. His only concern was that my pre-op liver showed up "fatty and enlarged." Not too sure what that means, but he feels like it will be OK when he rechecks it in May, 2005.
Is it just me or is it hard to believe that it's been half a year since we all had our surgery?!?! What major changes we've all gone through in that time! I hope that everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving. I overindulged a little--didn't overeat at the main meal but did a lot more snacking throughout the day than normal. Boy, did I pay for it the next day! Let's just say there was no gas shortage here! Guess it was a good lesson to learn before the Christmas season hits.
Everyone, have a great week as we step into December!

Hey Jennifer,
Glad to see everything looked good at your six month; mine were good also. You've lost VERY fast for your size it seems. We started at the same weight, but I'm still hovering around 170. I can't get over the changes though. I went shopping last night and all the twelves fit and some were even a little loose, especially around the waist. My waist has always been the smallest part of me proportionately. Now if I could just lose these big legs. My hubby says my legs are smaller than he's ever seen them....I don't see it yet. To me they are still HUGE.
I did pretty good eating Thanksgiving day. I didn't deprive myself of the sweets though. I had a few bites of a few cakes. I did over do it yesterday morning on a dang muffin I made for Thanksgiving though. The thing is it was a splenda muffin and I only ate half. I didn't dump; I just had to get rid of it as quick as I ate it.
Keep up the great work Jennifer.

Christie,
I was at a plateau around 170 for a few weeks. I joined a gym in October and have been going 3-4 times per week. Since then, I've started losing at a pretty good rate again. I'm hoping to continue that through the holidays, or at least to keep up SOME weight loss. It was very strange to be the only one in the family not sitting around miserable and too full after our Thanksgiving meal! It felt like a little victory!
Is your 138 goal from you or your doctor? My doctor's goal is a BMI of 25. My personal goal is to get down to at least 130, maybe even 125. I'm only 5'4", so I think that would be good. My family says no way, though...they think I'd be too skinny. They don't understand that I'd love to be considered too skinny, though!
Keep up YOUR good work, too!
Season's Greetings,
Jennifer
