How do you count your weightloss?
I am curious how you all count your weightloss? A week before surgery i weighed 248. The day I got home from surgery I weighed in at 168(I was in hospital for 4 day's, due to isues with morphine) so they really pumped me full of fluid. Should I count the 268? Or the 248? It just dawned on me as I was reading another post about weight loss and how much we have lost in 6 months what I weighed right after surgery vursus now. If I count 268, I have made the century club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I now weigh 164...Just wondering what numbers you all go with.

On my very first visit to the surgeon I weighed 303. When I went back for my pre-op testing I weighed 297 . I use the weight on that day 297 .
When I was in the hospital I went back up to 303 - due to all the fluids . But a week later .. down 20 pounds .
If It where me I would use the number you where pre-op .
Take care,
Natalie
Brenda,
This question gets tossed around a lot. We each decide for ourselves, but here's my .02:
I count everything I've lost since my consult date. Patterson made me lose thirty pounds before the surgery and I would not have lost that weight except for that.
That is when my weight loss journey began and I fought for every pound I lost pre-op, so I count it! LOL!

105 Pounds Gone!
Unfortunitely we can't really count what we weighed right after surgery because of all of the extra fluids. The best weight to use is what ever you weighed right before surgery......sorry I am sure you didn'**** to hear that!!! lol Congrats on your awesome weightloss even if you don't count the 20lbs of fluid!!! Take care,

Ok, here is what I have gathered today on this issue. I called my many friends post opp and called my Dr. My friends go by weight they weighed at time of coming home from hospital. Most even lost between 2-5 lbs, in hospital(I would want to count that as weightloss if it were me)
My Dr. said to count highest weight after surgery, as it is after the surgery that count's, whether it is water weight gained due to IV or not. It is still lbs that have to come off eventually. weight is weight. Now I REALLY like this way of thinking, plus he said it makes great bragging rights if you gain which according to him alot of people don't gain. LOL Loved his way of thinking on this. On other sites I noticed folks were counting weight gain due to hospital stay and started from got home date as there starting point. Thought this would be interesting how everyone viewed this.

Hi Brenda, I went to my first Dr. appointment, my weight~254lbs. I quit smoking and gained 5 lbs over the next few months, before surgery I weighted in at 259Lbs, But to this day they at the surgeons office, they still go by the 254 that I wieghted at my first visit, I just hate that. I want credit for that extra 5 lbs I lost. ;) Cheryl
