I'm wanting to boost my protein and I was wondering what everybody else is eating that has lots of protein in it that I could add to my diet. I'm currently using lots of milk, cheese, ham, eggs, steak, & other meats but I'm getting bored with my usual. Any ideas? Cassie

One of the new things I am eating alot of is Doritos Edge. They are made with soy. They have 10 grams of protein in one ounce (about 14 chips). I add cheese for extra protein, a little salsa and sour cream and I have a great meal with about 16 grams. angie

Have you tried Carb Countdown Smoothies? They are awesome!!! They come in four different flavors and you can get them at Wal Mart or Krogers. They only have 3 grams of carbs you count and 13grams of protein. I drink two or three a day. It just depends on how much protein I get in other wise. Carb countdown Chocolate milk is awesome too. It kind of taste like a yahoo. I personally can't stand protein shakes or the bars. They make me want to yak!! Gross!!!! But if you like smoothies, you will love these. Good luck!! Toni

Hi Cassie, My surgeon's nutritionist is very adamant that we get our protein from coarse dense meat. We sign a contract before surgery stating that we will not drink protein shakes after the 6th week post op. So, I eat lots of meat. I eat turkey bacon, chicken, lean hamburger, liver, turkey, beef and turkey jerky, steak, shrimp, fish, and the occasional hot dog. I have also been eating salads after I get in my 2 oz. of meat. I do have mornings when I don't have time for bacon, etc. and I will eat the string cheese and a few pieces of jerky. Good Luck, Christie

Do you handle hot dogs pretty well? I've been wanting one and was afraid that my tummy wouldn't agree.

Hey Cassie, I do just fine with hotdogs. In fact, I do just fine with pretty much any meat. The only meat I can't stomach is reheated meat. I do prefer the all beef hotdogs from Oscar Meyer. Christie

Hey Cassie - How are you ! Well , unlike others I get most of my protein in from Nectar .. or Whey Fruity. I do eat but I have such trouble with meats . I use the Carb Countdown Yogurt Smoothies .. I try to stay away from soy - and stick to whey proteins . I just can not handle the way beef or pork make me feel . I have learned to really enjoy fish .. or crab legs .. they are great proteins . Good Luck to you .. Nat

I still use the protein shakes to get at least 30 - 50 g a day. I use the Isopure powder my favorite is Strawberry Cream - it's a lot like Nestle Strawberry Quick. I love Hormell's Turkey Chilli w/ No Beans - it's 24 g for 190 Cals per serving. It sits so much better in my pouch than beef chilli. Also, there are 2 servings per can so a can is two day's lunch. Some others: Underwood Chicken Spread. I like Jerky or Beef Nuggets. Soy Chips for a snack. EAS Carb Control Protein Bars - 25 g for 210. The only one I like is Chocolate Chip Brownie.
