I have gone WAY off plan this last few weeks with all of the Halloween candy and all. Old habits die hard!! Last night I made the kids tacos with flour tortillas. They didn't finish them and I hadn't eaten yet so I ate half of one. I actually dumped off of it the same as I did eating a small halloween cupcake the other night!!! Gosh I hate that. I vowed last night that today I was going to do my best to get back on track. I have slacked SO bad with my vitamins & protein shakes. My weight loss has been affected by it so I know I was doing bad. This morning for breakfast I just drank a 50+g protein shake. It didn't even taste good...YUCKY!! I usually only add one scoop to what I make and I added 2 to beef it up a bit but I didn't want to double the liquids. AT least I drank it. My deployed hubby will be home in 2 weeks and his whole family a few days after him....I have SO much to get done in this house and I have procrastinated SO bad. Now here I am and I have had low energy and I need to get on the ball. I am also hoping to jump start my weight loss again. I was hopingto be 169 by the time he came home and over the last 3 weeks I normally would have lost 9lbs but I only lost 4 so I am behind the game. Anyone else want to join me on a protein train?? Sorry I rambled on so much.......I hope everyone has a wonderful voting day! VOTE!!! Julie 265/177.5/130

Hey Julie, I'll get on the protein train with ya! I need to get more protein in too...and get my face out of the halloween candy basket! One thing I have been doing with the shakes is mixing 1 scoop of the powdered stuff with carb countdown dairy beverage. Cuts down a bit on the yuckiness factor and there's like 15 or so grams of protein in the carb countdown. Just an idea. Hmm, not doing good so far on the protein today...I havent had any! Just a slice of whole wheat toast and a cup of coffee w/splenda. Have a happy protein filled day! Shanna 405/270

Well thank you..... I do usually only mix one scoop of protein (25g) with skim milk & yogurt. I used to buy the carb countdown but I didn't drink it fast enough. I am sure I would now though. I will try it again. I also usually add a little banana and a tiny bit of peanutbutter and they are so good. This time i wanted to get in the protein now...lol I didn't have banana and it was just all wrong....but i did drink it and I am happy for that. It is lunch and I am still not hungry and I am not sure what I will eat. I guess I shoudl start to think about that before I get hungry. Maybe taco meat and stuff wrapped in a little lettuce . I need to go drink water now though...that is another bad area for me..I have been awful all the way around. Let keep it up today as best as we can and report tomorrow. Thank you for joining me! I would love to jump on that protein train, I am a very bad girl because I haven't done a protein drink ever since I had my surgery. I live in Italy and we don't have to many choices of protein drinks or shake so I have noo idea what is good or even what to do. I need some info on the protein thing. I don't think I have the right diet info over here. Plus I am lactose intolerant and I hate milk, yogurt, and whatever other dairy products there are. What shoulda, coulda do?

Go to www.vitalady.com you can order samples of protein shakes from her. That way you can try them before you buy a big tub of stuff. Do you live near a base? MOst bases have GNC and they carry the protein that all of my friends and I drink. Can you drink Hood Carb Countdown? Is is supposed to be like a milk or one of the soy milk products. I also eat Post Carbwell bars. They have 10g of protein in them. When did you have your surgery? Beef jerkey and peanuts are a good choice for snacks. They both have protein. I eat the frozen meals by Smart One.....I think that is the name of them. They only have meat and veggies in them. Just start looking at labels and look for things with less then 10g of sugar per serving(at least that is what I do) and higher protein. How you contacted your surgeon or doctor and asked them for suggestions? Good luck.....don't forget lots of water (also crystal lite and sugar free koolaid). We were also told not to drink anything at least 30min-1hr after eating. Good luck and keep us updated. If you email me I can give you some other support group sites if you would like. Julie S.

OK Julie, I'm jumping on with you!!!!!!! I'll be the caboose! Since I have such a big CABOOSE! I think you ought to send a friendly reminder everyday to have our protien shakes. Or if you don't and one of us notices it maybe one of us can post the question...Have you had your protien today? I honestly forget. Just like another poster made the comment about her missing her vitamins, It reminded me to take mine...I got up and did. Little things like this to keep us on the ball benefit everyone. I am going to make a solum(sp) vow to get in atleast 60 grams a day. I'll confess something I have yet to be on a high protien /low carb way of eating since having this surgery. Do I no better, absolutly!!!!! But I am a carb addict. Soft foods still FEEL much better to my pouch than dence protien foods. I mainly get my protien in through my shakes. I had speghetti for lunch(out of can) ate about 3 oz. That feels the best on pouch for me. That is one of the biggest reasons I still eat alot of carbs is because they are more like mush. I have even pureed tuna, chicken, et,,w/mayo and it still feels like yuck. Breads though I don't eat, so that is good. I realize now is the point to really push for my protien as the weight isn't falling off as it did, so for me to promice to get on protien train is me being accountable for. Hope everyone has a great day. I also hope we here who will be our next president in the next 24 hrs and not few weeks like 4 yrs ago! Brenda 248/168/135
