Hello all! I had surgery on May 5th with Dr Needleman who I just adore and the staff lol...I started out at 293 and im now 218...I know we are all different...Im 5'6 and a half lol if that makes a difference lol.. I always said 5'7before till got measured lol...anway..Im I losing normal compared to all of you or am I slow? I walk 3-5miles each day and Nancy (nutritionist) told me to slow down a bit cause I was buring too many calories and not eating enought for that kinda activity each and every single day...(missed 3 days in 4months due to severe weather)...But I see alot of bigger losers and im afraid I wont lose more than a bit more...Maybe getting to 190's and that would really bum me out...tks for input all xoxo Lou...(female mom of 3)

Lou, I think your's doing great! Some folks would say..Don't compare yourself with others, but it is perfectly normal and we all do. It is just something we can't help as. I know I have, and all my WLS friends have as well. But..I wouldn't stress over it...We are all going to loose our weight, some faster than others some slower...Don't we wish we had a magic ball we could look into and see what the outcome would be? I would continue walking if it were me, becasue you are atleast toning. Again I am no expert, just what I would do. Brenda 248/168/135

Lou - Your nutrionist is right on with the taking days off. My nutritionist and trainer at the gym said the same thing. If you are exercising a lot and not taking in calories for a fuel source - you will not lose quickly or you will stop losing all together. Your body goes into a starvation mode if it's not getting the calories for the activities you are doing - the body's mechanism to save itself from starving kicks in. Also, be sure you are getting enough good protein. You need to build back the muscle that you expend during exercise. You don't just lose fat and water exercising but muscle too. Whey protein isolate is considered the best source. Ingesting protein right after exercise maximizes its benefit for helping regenerate muscles. I workout 3x a week with weights and cardio and 2 days just cardio. The other 2 days are OFF. That doesn't mean I am a slug on the couch but I don't do any "exercise". I still walk a bit at work and just doing normal activities - but no work outs. Your body needs time to recover from exercise. Good luck.

Hey now. Don't compare yourself with anyone. You may get bummed out for no reason. Heck! You are doing much better than I am if that helps! I don't walk because it is to cold here and I don't have the money to join the ymca or a gym. Trying to get a treadmill is like pulling teeth. LOL Listen to your doctor and trainer. They know what is best for you. That is why we pay them right? At least I hope they know what is best for us. LOL Just messing around. In a pretty good mood for now. For real though, you are doing great!!! Most of the others that you see losing faster weight more than you did starting out. You have to look at that as well. PLEASE!!!! Don't compare yourself to others. That is a good way of getting stressed out and worried then it actually may affect your weight loss. Stress is evil and can cause many things. You are doing awesome. Keep up the great work. Toni
