frightened by appetite
I've lost over 90 lbs since May 17th; closely follow food instructions and swim/exercise classes have helped with this. I'm making a concentrated effort to eat a variety of foods. Until this week I really haven't experienced hunger, waking up and wanting to eat or wanting to eat for the heck of it. Its all back now; so far I've generally been able to avoid these behaviors, but I'm pretty scared that they are going to come back.
Any ideas?
Sara ,
I too am never -- and I mean never hungry . I will be 5 months on the 27th . It scares me .. I sometimes go all day and eat very little . This week I have made an effort to eat . My job is so hectic .. I just skip lunch and dinner is such a chore for one .
I get in about 500 to 600 calories a day . I planned my meals for next week and hope and pray that it gets better .
Thanks,
Nat
Sara-
You are doing so great! I have been having the same lately-mostly a big craving for bad carbs, of all things. I think it may be related to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)-brought on by the loss of daylight that happens in the winter. Have you suffered from seasonal depression before?
I'm considering buying one of those very expensive ($170) light dealies to try to combat it. I'm already on anti-depressants.
Of course, it COULD just be that I've hit that turning point where things get harder. I just keep trying to make good choices.
Hugs,
Susan
My wife has a Light-Box and it really helps her with SAD. With the clocks changing this week I am sure it will get some use again soon. I use it sometimes too - especially if I need a pick me up in the evening. It can boost your energy with 5-10. I don't think that's what it's designed to do - but hey it works for me.
I too am finding it harder not to graze. I find viatamins, water and protein are the best things to combat it. If I miss them I am hungry. Still not eating anywhere near what I could prior to surgery, but I am so weary of old habit creeping back in.
