Me & My Pouch

I've decided that since my pouch has taken on a personality of it's own that I should give her a name. Doris is what I settled on. Yes, Doris... I don't know why but it seemed to fit. Anyway, here is my relationship with Doris. Doris moved in five months ago today. At first I followed all the rules. Only clear liquids, then full liquids, then puree, then soft foods... Doris spent about a month and a half really sick and I had to take her to the doc to be worked on but things got better and she was feeling pretty good in no time... At about the 3 1/2 month mark Doris decided that she was ready for the leap back into the real world. I obliged by feeding her anything she was craving for... roast beef with mashed potatoes for a week straight, meat sauce for three days, scrambled egg & tomato sandwiches for who knows how long, white castle burgers... biscuits & jelly... and the list goes on. Occasionally Doris and I would have a disagreement but we would quickly work things out. But then it happened... just as anyone you live with... Their true self reared their ugly head... Last week Doris decided that she was sick of what I was giving her. Since she wasn't really demanding anything and I have to eat to live, I just ate what was convenient... 1/2 a Hardees burger.. I saw it again really quick. Ok.. I can live with out the Hardees burger. Lets give this a try... chicken, corn, stove top stuffing with just a bit of gravy.... I'm gagging at the thought of it now... I'll probably never attempt that again. Ok... Lets see what else is in the cabinet. Ah.. Chicken fried rice by Hamburger helper and one piece of chicken with sweet & sour sauce.... Doris hated it from the second I suggested it. I couldn't even finish what I had... She kicked that chicken out so fast that I barely made it to the bathroom. With that being all I had eaten all day I knew that I had to try something else... Ah Ha... Doris has been really craving biscuits and jelly lately so I'll just pop some in the toaster oven and she'll be happy.... Wrong... Doris was still angry about the chicken incident from earlier that she almost moved out herself when she booted the biscuit. I tried to eat something this morning... but Doris is still pouting at me. I wish I knew how to maker her happy... I'm missing a day of work for her! And to beat it all.... Doris keeps wanting a ham sandwich & I've not eaten pork for four years!!!

O Cassie .... My pouch is named Lucille . And Last night , I made some smoked porkchops and the meat was bad . I have been so so sick. I think you may need to back to basics ..... What I do is eat a lot of soups... and crackers . I hope Doris gives up the Ghost and lets you have some peace . Take care, Natalie

My Dr. suggested to me is to start all over from the begining with liquids and then puree, he said try it for two days on each and then work on up. Good Luck!!

Jeez, I think my pouch is Doris's twin sister. There are days lately that nothing works for me. I've been trying to go back to basics and have been working on eating slower and eating less. That seems to be helping me some. I've barfed more in the last 2 or 3 weeks than I have in the 4 months since surgery. I'm sorry you're having this trouble, but I'm sorta glad not to be the only one. I hope it's much much better soon! cheryl
