It's weird and wonderful
As some of you know I'm a nurse. I just happen to share office space with the coordinator of our bariatric surgery program at my hospital. When she is out of the hospital, I cover for her and make rounds on the patients who have wls. Today, I went to see a really nice lady and we were talking about what she could expect at home, etc.
Anyway, I shared my story that I had the surgery on May 25 so that she could know that I understand what she is going through and that what I have to say is based on reality. This woman just freaked out. Her eyes got big and her mouth dropped. She was so amazed at how good I look! She said she would never have known I had been big enough to qualify for this surgery. She couldn't stop talking about it and got really excited because I had weighed almost as much as her pre-op and wore the same size clothes.
It was really fun to talk to her and helps me know I'm doing ok even though I'm not losing as fast as some of you. I look pretty durn good in spite of the fact that I still have a long way to go.
As of today, I've lost 76 pounds. Not tooo shabby. Now, I'm off to visit my mom. She is having knee replacement surgery on Monday, so I will be tied up with her for a while. Life sure has gotten busy since I've lost weight.
How fun!
This kinda relates~
My parents come to visit today and it's the first time they have seen me since about a month after surgery! So the fact that I am 5-15 pounds away from goal now will be kinda fun.
It's so nice that you get to work with peole who are in the same boat as we all were and get to share your knowledge and experiences! Keep up the good work in all areas and Congrats on your great loss!

Dear Cheryl, how wonderful for you! I think that would be so gratifying to be able to speak to someone who has just gone through what we already have! You must have made that woman's day!! And from the sounds of it she made yours!! Congratulations to you on your loss, you are doing wonderful! And all the best to your Mom with her knee replacement surgery. And I know what you mean-MY life has gotten a lot busier too since I've lost the weight! Maybe it's because we don't find excuses anymore to stay home and NOT do anything?? Anyway, all the best to you and keep up the great work!!! You are awesome!
