Well, I had my consult today with the PS, they are submitting for insurance approval on Monday for the panniculectomy/abdominoplasty, and I have a surgery date of 11/29/04 if I get approved. The doc is also submitting for thighplasty, but more than likely that won't be approved, as my insurance company advised me that "thighplasty is always considered cosmentic and not reconstructive". Anyway, the doc wants me to try to be down an additional 20lbs by surgery date as he feels I will have the best results at that pioint. I am currently at 187, and my goal is 165...with my gastric bypass surgeon's goal at 150. The PS feels if I'm at 165-170 for the tummy tuck, things will be great. Just a word of caution. Many surgeons suggest that you wait on PS until 1 year after you reach your goal. The reason is that your body will continue to adjust after you have lost the weight. Just thought you would want to know. Deb -80 lbs.

Yes. Deb my surgeon too will not do anything until you are at least 18 mos out . Our bodies change so much in that time . I am not even considering it right now . I do not have too much hanging skin Thank God .. And I do not want to ever go under the knife again . But Congrats on her surgery .. Nat

HI, Congratualtions on all these exciting things, however, I'm afraid I have to agree with the post from Debra. It does seem a bit early for a TT. My only back up for this opinion is my daughter-in-law. She had her TT before a year, subsequently, just this week she has just had her 3rd....yes I said 3rd.... Repair surgery from hernia, etc. You have already had a second surgery in less than a year, and now another scheduled. I pray for a uncomplicated and speedy recovery. Please be sure your Dr is a "board certified" ps, or maybe even get a 2nd opinon before moving forward. Please don't take this as anything but true concern. Best of Luck Pam RNY 5/13/04 268/186
