Need help with bowel problem.

Okay all you May people!! I have had diarhea (sp?) for about two weeks now. I have also been having back problems and wondered if the diarrhea might be from all the pain meds I have been taking? I am starting to worry a little bit about it. My back is much, much better now so I am not taking all kinds of meds for pain, so maybe the problem will go away, but in the meantime do any of you have any suggestions? Thanks!!

Laura, I'm so sorry you're having this problem. I doubt seriously it is your pain meds causing it, though. Usually, pain meds cause constipation. I would suggest you call the doctor. You may have a little GI infection or something. Hope youf eel better real soon! Cheryl

Laura, I agree with Cheryl, call your Doctor. That's what they are there for and you certainly don't want to take any chances... Hi Laura, I was not having bowel problems...but the pain in my middle back prompted me to call my surgeon. After having tests I found out I have an ulcer in my pouch. I am now on prevacid which has helped 100%. The production of excess gastric acid is what was causing me problems. Good Luck

Laura, I have had diarrhea almost constantly since I had my surgery in May. I asked my Dr. about it. He told me to try Imodium. So far I haven't tried any. I go back to work on Tuesday after 3 weeks vacation. I will start to carry it with me at that time. You might try it. Keep us posted. Good luck. Phil
