OR again?? OT- I'm going back
Hiya family! I saw a very nice orthopedic surgeon today in Nashville, Dr. John Bruno at TN Orthopedic Alliance. The verdict is....I need surgery on both knees. I have, in his own words, "horrible allignment of the knee caps" and the bones are rubbing together. Its severe apparently. My knee caps are on the outter portions of my leg bones instead of in the center and the bones are grinding to dust. He has ordered physical therapy twice a week for 3-4 weeks, and i'll see Dr. Bruno again in 5 weeks, then surgery. He will do one knee at a time, i'll be out of work 7-10 days per knee. I'll have to wear a brace and do crutches for a while. More PT after surgery, and once that leg is well we'll start on the other one. If I dont fix them now it will eventually get to where I cant walk at all. If I go ahead and fix them he says when i'm 50 i'll have great knees. I cant believe my streak i'm on. In 2002 I had my gall bladder removed, in 2003 I had major sinus surgery, and 2004 has so far held the RNY and soon 2 knee surgeries. I'm starting to wonder about this lol. Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know whats going on. I'll let you know more as I find out more. He didnt go into great detail about what the surgery involves. I dont know if its knee replacement or what. Ick, the thought of having my knees cut open makes me sick. God bless you all! Big hugs!
Melanie
Wow, Melanie-you're starting to be one of those surgery addict-types you see on reality television. Hopefully by having the RNY you will be able to skip the C-sections from having hefty babies. But then, there's the plastic surgery next year or the year after....
Sorry you're having to go through this. Hopefully it will add to the great feeling of having lost weight, and make your life so much easier and better. God bless you for having such a good attitude about things.
Hugs,
Susan
