Cough & Cold

Hi Guys... I first of all, I want to thank everyone who answered my earlier post... I will get back to each of you... but I've been feeling like crapola!! I've got my first post surgery cold/cough!! Anyone know where I can find that list of medicines that it is OK to take for colds etc. post surgery??? I know it was somewhere on this site, but can't remember for the life of me. I know the list was mostly acetominiphin (spelling??) based... but can't remember... and frankly, don't wanna dump and cough at the same time!! Thanks guys... any help would be greatly appreciated!! Loree- I was just searching for the list but haven't come up with the comprehensive list. Most of the Q and A in the library say diabetic Robitussin and tylenol products. One referred to a "Robitussin Clear", which I have never seen. My surgeon, who's been at this for 25+ years and is one of the founders of the ASBS, does not limit what we can take post-op. His rule is, if it worked for you pre-op, then you can try it post-op. Not a bad rule, but drinking syrup can't possibly be a good thing. I hope you feel better really really soon. Loree - I had a cold since surgery. I took a chance and used NyQuil with a water chaser. I hoped the water would flu**** through my pouch and not irritate it. I have a CPAP machine for sleep apneia and it's just miserable with a cold. I didn't dump. But it hit me like a ton a bricks! I was out like a light in no time. Which is what I needed. I only took it at night to sleep. John

Hi John, Boy, you aren't kidding... I decided to try some Nyquil to just sleep last night... I did take that Robitussin Clear stuff that Susan suggested too, but before bed took the Nyquil... talk about a cheap drunk!! WOW!! I got up to go to bed and thought I was going to fall over... Haven't felt like that since the meds in the hospital after surgery!! You are right, it did knock me out, which I did need... and I didn't dump either... Thank God!! Gonna have another swig tonight!! My doc lets me take whatever I need. I'll keep the tip about getting drunk off the nyquil in mind though! Hope you feel better soon Loree. Cheryl
