I have problems eating when I should too. From what I've heard it's normal at this stage (I think we had surgery around the same time). There are days when I have to force myself to eat. And I don't like doing that at all. I'm one of those people who doesn't like to eat when I don't feel hungry. I know I've had days where I didn't have breakfast or lunch without realizing it. I don't know if it's because of all the water I drink or what. Protein bars have become my new friend. If I don't want to eat a whole meal I eat one of those. At least then I know I'm getting protein like I know I should. If it seems like a real problem for you talk to your surgeon and/or nutritionist. They would be able to help you come up with something. Hope everything works out for you!! Have a great day and good luck!!!!!

Well, it's good you're not throwing up. Some days I just don't want to eat either. I could lend you my wife to nag you to eat?
One thing that I have done is try to break up the meals (especially at work) into 2 parts. It seems a lot easier to eat 2 smaller 'snacks' than 1 'meal'. Not that the meal is big!
The only drawback is that I have to manage my water to make sure I wait long enough after each 'snack'. My doctor has me stop drinking 15 minutes before eating and wait 30 minutes after eating.
Good luck,
John
Hi Irish Empress! I am a 5/24/04 wls person so we are close. I have NOT been able to eat more than 500 calories EVER. I was freaking out about that, but then I realized that my pouch will only hold a small amount of food, and I try to get in my protein, then whatever happens to fit. (Not much!)
I was having a hard time eating and drinking and my surgeon put me on Prevacid - I guess because of possible ulcers. I have an endoscope scheduled for 9/21/04 to check things out. Eating is easier now, but not always comfortable.
Here is what I believe about calories in: as long as we are getting our vitamins and calcium (and I hope you are taking yours) and getting B-12 on a regular basis (some do once a month, some twice, some more) then what we are eating is enough to healthily sustain life. What is amazing is how little food it takes to live.
Even eating the small amount of calories, I have lost 55 pounds since my 5/24/04 surgery. I am one of the people who had just at 100 pounds to lose, so I am more than halfway there after just 3 months. Makes me very happy. I was trying to match my weight loss to others who were as far out as I was, but I realized that we all lose weight at different rates for different reasons.
Make sure your food intake is healthy (don't waste your pouch space on sweets and empty calories) and get your protein in. I am beginning to lose my hair, despite trying to keep my protein up.
Nat. Ditto for everything you, is the same for me! Meats especially don't sit well, and I tend not to eat to much of them. They just fell really heavy in my pouch. I worry about this as I want to start excersizing and I am told I don't take in enough caleries and my weight loss will stop completely. Soft foods feel much better in my pouch, so I tend to eat things I shouldn't. Chef boy R D spegg. is what I eat alot of. Only half of the small can. I do drink a protien shake a day though. My hair is falling out by handfuls but I have enough to spare. I would love to sit down and consume enough protein where I could start working out. Good luck!
