Hi guys I know we are all different and I know that we are all moving at our own paces with this wonderful weight loss journey... but I am just curious... As I'm still having a VERY hard time getting in food.... what's everyone eating these days?? I'm still trying to get to the point where I am eating "normal" food. I tend to stick to the softer stuff as it seems to go in and stay in better... If I try to eat chicken or something else that requires more chewing, I tend to throw it all up!! I'm sticking to protein bars, salad, baked potatoes, imitation crab, etc. ~~ But truthfully, salad is what I enjoy most and what goes in the best and stays down! (chili & rice also seems to work for me) I'm just wondering if someone out there has any other ideas as to foods to try... especially so that I can get in my protein. I know I'm not getting in 1/2 of what I should... So... any ideas my wonderful WLS sisters & brothers??? I'm down 73 lbs. as of Monday... with 143 more to go!!! Thanks guys... perhaps we can all use some new ideas for food. Also, how much food are you guys getting in per meal?? Here's my average day: breakfast~ Protein bar (30g) lunch~ritz crisp crackers (5-10) with egg salad or a green salad or some chili & rice... but no more than 1/3 cup dinner ~ salad or yogurt... snack ~ Popcorn! THANK GOD FOR POPCORN!! or a few peanuts. See, not getting in much protein there... and should really stay away from the crackers... That's all for now... Thanks, Loree 391-318-175

Hi Loree I am post op also and am down about 72 lbs. I cannot tolerate meat or heavy foods too well either and stay with softer foods also. I also try st stay away from crackers too. I also like Kozy Shack lo carb pudding 4 packs in the refrigerated section at Wal-Mart - comes in rice , vanilla, chocolate and tapioca.

I had the DS so my eating habits and requirements are most likely different from yours. The protein is tough. I need to use shakes and drinks to get my 90 grams in. Today I had an Atkins shake for breakfast, trail mix as a snack, 4 oz of chicken for lunch, two mini blueberry muffins, and for dinner 4 oz prime rib, 1/2 baked potato, 1/2 cup broccoli, and a slice of rye bread. Later tonight I will have another shake. My total just reached 70 lbs today. Deb (May 4th surgery)

Hi Loree, You have had a great wt loss so far,Congrats!! I'm lucky,I can tolerate alot of foods now. Today I had: B: nothing, jus****er S:water L: Subway chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap 42 grams protein. I ate almost half. S: Diet Pepsi also a cup of milk D:the other half of my Subway Wrap S: 1 1/2 pieces of chicken strips, and about 6 fries Water and vitamins I know I should have made better choices today, but I was'nt to hungry this morning. I've lost 77 lbs I'am a carb lover. Chips, crackers, popcorn, potatoes, yeah you get the picture right? Its hard. Chips are so easy to "go" for. I've been doing pretty good about staying away from them. I use to before surgery. I would eat Bar-b-que chips and a glass of milk, and that would be my lunch. Then I would need to take a nap?? Imagine that!! lol. I'm so thankful to be where I'am now. Keep up the good work..you are doing wonderful!! ~Jeanne

Way to go Loree on such dramatic loss!!! Some days I feel like I'm eating everything in the house. I wonder if I'm hitting the stage most hit at 6 months only early. Truthfully, though, when I look at what I HAVE eaten for the day, it's usually fewer than 700 calories and I spend the evening in a desperate rush to get in more protein and calories (I'm working off about 500 a day on the elliptical trainer). I eat more junk than I should. It's high protein, sugar-free junk, but it lacks nutritional value and I'm just counting on my vitamins, which isn't a very good long-term plan. Anyway, here's yesterday: 1 QSmart chocolate peanut butter granola bar 120 cal, 11g protein 3/4 C homemade "lasagna"(Carb Options Ragu, lean ground beef, whole wheat noodles, ff ricotta, mozerella, and tons of green pepper, onion, and mushrooms) 350 cal, 35g protein 1 Carb Smart Klondike ice cream sandwich 80 cal, 9g protein 13 shrimp with ****tail sauce (sf ketchup and horseradish sauce) 90 cal, 17g protein 1 slice SaraLee deLightful toast with a heap of peanut butter 200 cal, 10g protein (??) Total: 840 cal, 82g protein Notice the total absence of fruit and near-total absence of vegetables in my diet . I gotta say I'm a total hedonist. I eat what makes me happy. The ice cream sandwiches are to die for and have a lot of protein for their calories relative to Atkins Advantage bars or whatever. I recommend them. Hope things get easier for you soon! Hugs, Susan

Hi Loree! Well, I'm 13 weeks yesterday...-48lbs (Monday). I'm a slow looser, but steady the last 4 weeks which is good! I have a hard time with breakfast and dinner, I find I'm hungriest during the day. Today was a better day for me: B: Egg mcmuffin from McDonalds without the egg and I only ate 1/2 the english muffin: so I had 1slice ham and 1 slice cheese and 1/2 muffin and 1/2 a dannon carb options smoothie (my son drank the other 1/2 -strawberry-yummy! s: 1-carb options dannon raspberry yogurt l: 1 piece fish and 1/2 cup zuchinni/squash steamed now: I'm working on a iced tea I probably have the most trouble getting in my liquids too its alot to do in addition to taking care of the kids and working you also have to get in all your protein and water Whew! I did order some samples from Bariatric eating.com so I just need to mix up those powders and see how they work...I tried to drink a slim fast carb vanilla this morning...yuck! Maybe I can mix my dannon smoothie with a protien pack...yeah, I'll try that for dinner You are doing great! I can't wait to be -70lbs...One day at a time ;) Michelle 285-237-138 PS: Thinking of buying stock in Dannon, I really like their products

Let's see I will be offically 4 months out on Saturday the 4th. I have lost over 100 lbs since consult and 96 or so since surgery - wil do a weigh in on Friday or Saturday. I am eating regular foods. I get full very easy. My normal day is: Protein Drink (30-40g of protein - 150 cals) Meal 1 - Lunchables Cheese and Crackers with Ham or Turkey (10 g 250 cals) Meal 2 - Fruit, and usually left overs or Chili or something easy at work. (about 10 g and 200 cals) Meal 3 - Veggies and Real Food at Dinner (10-15 g and 300 cals) Protein Snack - varies, sometimes part of a drink or a protein bar or Soy crisps. (7-10 g for 150 cals) So that puts me at 65-85 g of protein a day and 1050 or so cals. I don't always get in all that food just can't eat it all. If I don't then I be sure to get in 60 g of protein with drinks. Just to be safe.

Hi Loree! Congrats on your loss. I had my surgery May 24th and I just passed 60# today. I feel very fortunate that I'm tolerating almost all foods very well. There's almost nothing that I try that I can't eat. I am pretty diligent about not eating the bad stuff though. I don't touch sugar at all...ever. I try to keep it to low fat stuff, but sometimes I can't do that very well. Every morning I start out with a protein shake. If I didn't do that I'd never get my protein in. Typical day: B - protein shake (Sugar free carnation plus one scoop protein powder) S - cheese (either string cheese, sliced cheddar, or cottage cheese) L - half a sandwich with tuna salad, lunch meat, or meatloaf S - more cheese or nuts, jerky or low-carb yogurt D - pretty regular meal...protein first (chicken, turkey, fish, beef, or pork) then small amount of potato or sliced tomato/cucumbers. Plus some cheese. Always with the cheese for me!! LOL S - you got it! Cheese! or popcorn. I'm a popcorn girl too, Loree. It's like a HUGE treat for me now. So's fruit. Fruit is now dessert, and I only do fruit once in a great while. I also like the Klondike sugar free ice cream sandwiches for a snack. Oh yeah...can't forget...with all this protein I have a glass of prune juice with my evening snack. Popcorn and prune juice -- evening snack of champions! Getting my water in daily is more of a challenge...but I work at it pretty hard. I had pizza yesterday at work. Do you guys have Monicals? It was SOOOO good I almost died. The breadstick I stupidly tried to eat got stuck on the first bite....we learn, don't we? So I just dipped it in the nacho cheese and licked the cheese off. I had olives on my pizza and boy were those good. That's really my first pizza experience and I thought it went well. I just got full so fast....which is a really, really good thing. So, Loree -- get your protein in, girl!! Marcia

Hi Loree, I am a revision from a 1986 stomach stappleing to a RNY. I can eat more than most people and I don't have to chew really really well. I eat normally. I do have problems with bread, and bread products like breaded meats. The bread makes me feel dumpy. I am eating salads and lots of meat. I have only lost 53 lbs so far. And I am loosing only about a pound a weeks right now. Carmalla H.
