3 Months, 47 lbs, 50 minutes, size 18
Gotta love them numbers. I broke through the 200 barrier this week, and I feel great. I'm up to 50 min on the elliptical trainer and going MUCH faster for that whole time. I'm down 64 lbs since my consult and 47 since surgery.
This week I had to take my daughter to Philly to Shriner's for a checkup on her spine. She's scared of escalators, so we took the stairs in all the airports, and it didn't phase me a bit. Flying was SO MUCH EASIER!!! I fit in the seats and so far as I can tell, I didn't get any huge black bruises from banging into things. She will need more surgery in 6 months but I know that she can get through this with the same courage she has gotten through her other surgeries.
Working out has become a real joy in my life. I'm not really too worried about it becoming a substitute addiction. If it does, it's a healthy one (unless I end up with injuries or something). Our bodies are designed to get so much more exercise than our sedentary lifestyle allows. I even did the stair-climber this week for 12 minutes, and enjoyed the challenge (if not the physical sensation ). It makes a huge difference in my emotional well-being to go exercise. The day before our trip, I was very worried and anxious and craving sweets. After an hour at the gym, I was relaxed, calm, and no longer interested in "comfort foods". Missing a day while we were away was heck, but I'm back and lovin it.
My 18s fit nicely and some are even loose! I bought some sweats in a L (not a 2X) and some shirts that were regular ppl XL (not women's 1x) for my weight training class, and they make me look so much trimmer. I got some new bras and that makes a big difference too. I went from 46 DD to 40 DD and now I can hoist 'em up where they used to be .
I see that everyone else is doing so incredibly well. So many of you have lost so much more weight than I have, but I feel JOYFUL that I have done this well at only 3 months, and I could live the rest of my life happy at this weight (if some terrible thing stopped me from losing another pound, which it won't).
Hugs to everyone, and a giant THANK YOU for your support!
Susan
Looks like you are doing really well Susan. I need to be working out but can't find the time. I do try to walk 5 days per week though. Congrats on getting below 200. I've been flying since I hit 200. The scales were teetering this morning, 192-193. Keep up the great work and don't think that anything can stop you from losing to your goal.
