3 month ANNIVERSARY
Today marks 3 months that I have been on the losing bench. I know I haven't posted in a while but have been really working on my new lifestyle.
I am now down 71 pounds and am going to the YMCA 3 nights a week. I have worked up to walking 1 mile on the indoor walking track or at least 25 minutes on the treadmill each time I go. Additionally, I do at least 20 minutes in the sauna followed by 20 minutes in the whirlpool.
I have lost enough weight and inches the the 5x tops I used to wear are way to big on me now and just ordered some 3 x tops and those are a little big as well. What a great feeling.
Last weekend I went to St. Louis for a visit and saw several people who haven't seen me since my surgery (My former pastor for one) and his comment when he saw me was priceless, "so where is the rest of you". I told him I left it in Jefferson City, and don't intend to ever find it again.
I have been reintroducing several new items to my diet, but still am staying away from beef products or vegetable salad fixings....don't think my new pouch is quite ready for those. Menu planning is quite easy for me these days, as I concentrate on high protein and low or little sugar (less than 4 grams per serving) on all food purchases. I am eating lots of fresh fruit (WATERMELON IS MY FAVORITE) something I never used to do, but am discovering I absolutely love them.
I don't necessarily do protein drinks because with careful planning I have discovered I can manage to get anywhere from 70 to 90 grams of protein in a day. I just manage to eat 5 smaller meals a day and it happens. My favorite drink besides water these days (another new experience for me; I was never a big water drinker before my surgery) is sugar free cherry koolaide. YUMMY....
I would like everyone to know; that by no means am I super experienced with this new lifestyle change but if anyone has any questions or I can help them; I am here to help.
Blessings to everyone....pre-op's post-op's or whatever......
