Hello All, First off thanks for reading this post and thanks you for any and all input. My Doc cancelled my 3 month checkup because he will be out of the country. Made me really mad. Anyway since I will not be seeing him anytime soon. Does any one know what there doctors weight restrictions were/are at 3 months out. I just need to get a general feel. Since I want to go to the gym and do some weight lifting. I hate that doctors talk about you not missing follow up visits and then they pull this. Thanks Mike Start/Surgery/now 520/500/410

I understand what you feel about Dr. appts changing... mine have been changed several times. When I went for my 3 1/2 mo follow up visit, I asked him if I could do wt lifting now? and he said sure but it does not burn as much calories as Water Areobics (which is my main sorce of exercise). I told him that I just want to start toneing up. and he agreed. Good luck Diane Lap RNY -62# 250/188/docs goal 140/ my goal 105

Mike, At 3 months out, I doubt there are many weight restrictions if you start out small and work your way up. Just use common sense. Good luck Cheryl

Hey Mike - My doctors orders were a bit vague. I actually starting lifting weights at week 8 or 9. I was told it was OK start "ridiculusly light" and just work on tone and getting the muscles moving. I was shocked how sore I was after starting. Now at 12 weeks there are not offical restricts per say with one exception. No abdominal work for about 6 months to a year. I thought that was a big range. I was told it's because it varies so much individual to individual. I have been using nautilus machines on the advice of the trainer at my gym. Those machines are designed to issolate muscles groups and it's harder to "cheat" and use other muscles, like your abs. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck, John

First off thanks for your input. Can you say for get that. Abs is like one of the biggest mucles used when doing a free weight work out. Which is what I use only. I am just to big for those nautilus machines, beside I am a want-a-be power lifter.
