Have to say Nothing! unless completely protein to supplement because I haven't gotten enough in for the day. My Dr. is adamant about NOT getting back into the habit of snacking, it is too easy to turn even healthy snacks into unhealthy...just this one time.... when what you should be eating is not available. It's hard sometimes, but when I am sure to eat my protein at my meals, the some fruit/salad and lastly carbs... well, he's right... I really don't get hungry. If I think I am..it's sgr/free drinks, popsicles or water. Good Luck Pam RNY 5/13/04 262/195

Well since I am supposed to eat 6 meals a day...2 of them are more like snacks. I will eat rolled up ham with a little melted cheese on top or a few peanuts. Mostly protein since I never seem to get enough in. I will also mix up a little protein shake. True 'snacks' are usually things that I am not supposed to eat anyways so I try to stay away from the kids would normally snack on. I am honestly never really hungary so I guess snacking for me hasn't been an issue yet....I guess because I am only 3 1/2mo post-op..who knows!! I guess I am not much of a help...lol Take care! Some days I eat nuts. Other days, it's grapes or other fruit. Some days, I don't eat anything other than at my meals. It all depends on how I feel.

When I do, which isn't often, I usually eat something that is left over from one of my three meals. Sometimes I just can't finish a meal - so I will save it for later. My day consists of 2 protein drinks and three meals. Some days I will substitute a protein bar at night - especially if I have worked out hard that day.

Hey Yvette - I look for protein whenever I "snack", like cottage cheese, EAS Advantage Protein drink, Optisource drink, cheese or peanut butter on a cracker, or canned tuna. All are great sources of protein and it only takes a few bites to satisfy the protein requirement and keep you from getting over hungry later. My nutritionist suggests over 80 grams of protein per day to keep up energy, prevent hair loss and maintain or build muscle mass. It really helps to keep a log of everything you eat & what time you eat it. I missed a couple of days logging it, and when I recounted my intake, I was low on the protein. Also, always eat your protein first at any meal or snack. Then if you get full, so what? At least you have your protein accounted for. Feel free to write me. Linda 5/18/04 - reborn a loser!!
