Bread question...
I did horribly on bread the first few weeks. Thought I might NEVER try it again, but the nutritionist suggested giving it a second chance, so I toasted some Sara Lee lower carb stuff, and with peanut butter, this has become a daily treat. I take really small bites and make sure it dissolves in my mouth before I swallow.
I've had a bite or two of pasta without anything terrible happening, but I've read too many horror stories of rice to even try it.
I hope you are able to have buttered toast again (but in the blissful moderation that is our new life).
Hugs,
Susan
Hey Cassie - I tried toast with low cal margarine & it went down very well. Also satisfied my need for a "crunch". Then I got braver and tried a slice of 35cal/Veggie fiber bread with some fruit spread, it was OK too. The only pasta I have had has been in soups. Regular pasta doesn't have the protein and I am all about the "protein first" these days. At 3 months, you shouldn't have any problems with the bread/toast issue, but you still have to take small bites & chew, chew, chew!! Love, Linda Conover (reborn on 5/18/04)
I have had bread. Toast is best make sure it is crunchy as it moves through better. English muffins are somthing that I really like with peanut butter. Crackers too! Oh my! After the vitamin thing I am a cracker queen. I can do pasta too. Just remember that a little goes a long way have a bite or two really small ones and wait a few minutes and some more. If it is not very cooked it will expand. Good luck

Hey Cassie,
Here's my take on the bread -- I try not to do it, but some days I can't pass it up. So I have some low-carb stuff on hand...I think it goes down OK because it's much drier than regular bread. I may eat 1/2 a piece of toast with peanut butter sometimes in the morning for snack.
I have also formed an attachment to flatbread. I found some with sesame seeds, caraway seeds, and garlic and I love it. I absolutely have to limit myself though. I eat deli meat and then one small piece of flatbread. It satisfies the crunchy/salty craving.
I can't do pasta. I've tried and it's yucky. I don't do regular bread well at all either. I ordered a 1/2 a ham on tomato/basil at Panera the other day and ended up picking off all the bread...it just doesn't taste as good as the ham (which is a good thing).
Good luck!
Marcia
