My doctor didn't tell me how many calories to eat and I will ask him about this at my next appointment on the 25th. What did everyone elses drs. recommend as far as calories go? I saw Melanies post and it really got me thinking. I track mine on fitday too and I usually run around 800 calories and exercise or walk about 4-5 times a week. Can anyone tell me how to figure how many calories we should be taking in? I remember seeing something before about figuring out calories according to what your ideal body weight is. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks! Another Melissa -55 lbs.

Hi Melissa, My doctor told me to stick to about 800 calories a day. Some days that is really hard to eat enough to add up to 800. I do weight training 3 times a week and cardio twice a week. I hope this helps!!!! Christine -47

My surgeon recommended 600 cal per day for the first two months, and then up to 800-850 for now. Great job on the exercise! You have already tackled the most important element of our success! And boy have you been successful! 55 lbs is great! Hugs, Susan

My doctors guidelines are 500 calories per day and 60 grams of protein. It is hard but since I am now eating breads and crackers again I am getting closer to the calories but the protein just sits in my new tummy! -Gerriann

My doctor and nutritionist recommended about 800 calories a day with at least 60 g of protein. Since I started working out 3-5 times a week I have bumped up the protein 80 g of protein. The only down side is that sometimes add a few calories past 800. I guess it's working at 9 weeks I was down 60 lbs. I get weighed again this week. It has to be the first time I have ever looked forward to getting weighed.

Hiya Mel! I hope my info isnt freaking you out lol. From what everyone here thinks, my surgeons requirements are very strict. He has me restricted to 600 calories per day, three 6 oz meals, no snacking, low carb, low cal and low fat. Its damn hard is what it is lol. Dont follow what mine told me, sweetie. Ask your surgeon. If theres one thing i've learned at this site, its that all surgeons say something different. I think mine based a good deal of it on my beginning weight. I'm a "lightweight" and I guess that makes a difference. I've been on a plateau for a month atleast, so i'm starting to wonder about my regimen too. God bless hon! Mel
