Will I be the first of us to lose the old gallbladder? I had 2 horrible gallbladder attacks last night. It felt like something inside me would explode and the pain was indescribable. I see the doc first of the week for a workup, but the nurse in me knows what will be found. grrrrrr

Hey sister scale slave!!! Sorry to hear you're having GB problems. I had mine removed December of 2002. I didnt have stones, mine just stopped functioning. My ejection fraction was zero. I had pain in my right ribs. It would hurt when I laid on the floor, or leaned on the arm of a chair. We had chinese food one night and it had me rolling around on the floor like a child. I was so glad to have it out. Be sure they get all the gas outta your belly. They didnt for me and it was very painful the night after surgery. Hang in there sweetheart! I'll be praying for you! God bless! Mel

Thanks sweetie. I'll remember the gas thing. In fact, that's the only thing that hurt with the WLS. Oh well. I will survive this. Hey, maybe it'll break my plateau! LOL Cheryl

Hi Cheryl- Sorry you are having gb problems and pain. I had open RNY so that I could have my gb taken out at the same time. I hope you are able to treat it non-surgically or at least with minimal pain and trouble. Hugs, Susan

Thanks Susan. Ya know, I asked my surgeon to take the stupid thing out during my RNY. He doesn't believe in doing it prophylactically. That was the only point we disagreed on. Oh well. I'd still do it again tomorrow! It will be ok. Thanks for the hugs. Cheryl

Jeanne, I was shocked at how bad it hurt. Thanks for the prayers. I have an appointment for Tues anyhow so I'll get things going then. I'll be fine. Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, Sorry to hear about your GB pain. I had the surgery 3 1/2 years ago and the attacks are worse than the pain from the surgery. Plus I went home the next day. Hope this helps and you feel better soon. Christine

Thank you Christine. You have confirmed my suspicion that the surgery is easier than the GB pain. I just want it out and over with. Thanks for the support. Cheryl

Sorry Cheryl... I haven't had mine out... and since my surgery was on the 27th of May... I'm only 2 days behind you... and I'll probably be feeling those nasty pains one of these days... I'm sort of expecting it, my doctor doesn't believe in taking it out during surgery either, unless it looks "unhealthy". I've been taking my Actigal (but truthfully haven't been too religious about it...) perhaps I need to take it a little more regularly!! Keep us posted... You are in my thoughts and prayers... Aloha, Loree
