feel like a failure
Elizabeth, we don't all lose at the same rate. The lighter you are at the beginning, the slower you will lose. There are plenty of people who had their surgery after me who have lost more. As long as you are following your surgeon and nutritionist's plans and they are pleased with your progress, you are doing fine. According to what I have read and experienced, upping your protein and water intake helps to speed up the weight loss as does exercise.
Hey!!!
Ihad my RNY on May 18th and I have lost 36 lbs. I was at a plataeu for
3 weeks and thought I was doing something wrong also, but it was just my body playing catch up. I have been told that sometimes you don't loose weight and inches at the same time so it is a good idea to check your measurements every now and then. When you aren't losing lbs, you may still be losing inches.

Elizabeth....I can't tell you how much I understand your feelings....I sometimes feel the same way myself....but like the other posts said.....everyone loses at different rates....I am almost 12 weeks out and have lost 44 pounds.....so imigine how I feel when someone loses that in just one month.....but we all go in our own way.....as long as we are moving to the minus side.....thats all that really matters....keep your chin up and remember look to your OH family for support
Hi Elizabeth, I also have only lost 40 pounds. I am currently on a plateau since last week. Some of us are just slow losers, but at least we are loosing. I am hoping that my skin sags less with this slow loss. A girl can dream...lol. Keep up the good work and stick to the plan and all you can do is loose. Good Luck, Christine
i have actually gained 2 pounds for the last the few days so am down only 33 1/2 pounds!! i can eat quite a bit also and am thinking of calling my nutritionist. i can even tolerate sugar pretty well and thats a scary thing. i wonder if there are folks out there who found the surgery didn't work for them and if there is a remedy. i do feel better and am wearing my clothes better but an terrified that i'm going to have to fight for ever pound loss as always.
i hope there is a slim future for all of us.................................

I had my surgery 5/19 and am down 38 pounds... 3 weeks ago I was stuck at -30 pounds and then I changed my eating habits a little by eating more good foods and lost 8 pounds in one week.
We are all different and I am learning to stop comparing myself with others.. you are on the losing side now and that's what's most important. Realistically, w/out the surgery I would've never lost 30 pounds in 2 months so I have to be happy!
Don't worry we will all be fine...

Elizabeth...
I know exactly how your feeling...for the first time since surgery I'm feeling a little depressed...I've only lost 38lbs...4 wks - 33lbs, 8 wks - 2lbs, last week -3 lbs, what's up??? I posted in my journal today...and am promising my self to walk in the morning and night...that is all I can think to do as I am eating correctly/proportionately...I don't have to eat much to get the full feeling, so I'm confident that is not the problem...I also have been very careful in the last week to not drink for 1 hour after eating. I'm following my pouch rules, but I don't want to be a slow looser!!! I'm so thankful for this site, not to compare myself, but to get the support I so desperatly need...my family just don't get it, it takes someone in the same boat to really understand.
If you need some encouragement, don't hesitate to email me...we can support each other

I totally feel your pain. I had my surgery on May 7th almost 3 months ago and I have lost 33.5 lbs. I am thankful for those 33.5 lbs but I was hoping for so much more. If I continued losing at this rate I will be at goal in a little over 42 weeks and my goal for me was to lose 117 lbs in a year, 257 to 140.
I just think we all lose at different rates and we just need to be thankful for what we are losing. Good luck on your journey.
