I am down from 374 to 332 and it has been that way ever since 7/2/04. I weigh myself once a week and I am at my witts end about this. I walk 4 days a week and I watch what I eat (mostly) and I still stay @ the same weight. I am getting frusterated. I drink water all day long and I eat only 2x per day. I know I do this every month or so but I need some help or do I need to go and see if my stple line or pouch is ruined?? NEED INFO PLEASE I am very pleased with the weight loss so far but now I read other post and people who are abot 10 weeks out are down 60#'s and I am no where near that.

Shareka: I plateaued for 2 weeks... it drove me nuts. I found out that I was not eating enough and that my metabolism was slowing down. I needed to increase my carb intake (give me furnace something to burn) and eat more frequently during the day. I did both things and have now lost 9 pounds in the last week. I hope these tricks work for you too! Goodluck Deb - 55 lbs Surgery May 4th

Hiya Deb! I'm just curious, but how much were you eating before, ounce wise, per meal? I'm 9 wks post and only down 39 lbs, been stuck there almost 2 weeks. I only eat about 4 ounces three times a day, no snacking. I eat very little carbs. The Atkins diet was the only one to ever give me any success at all and hate to take in the carbs. Plus, my surgeon limits me to 600 calories per day, 3 meals, no snacking. Thats hard to do lol. Thanks! Melanie

Try eating something small every 2 or 3 hours. It really does help to boost your metabolism. I eat 5 or 6 small meals a day with a total intake of around 1000 calories.

I am in the same boat Sharekia. I weigh myself every two weeks and I have not lost a pound since 6-23-04 when I went to my six week check-up. In my mine I feel that I'm loosing inches but I do not know how much truth is in that but that's what I keep telling myself. At this point I'm not going to worry about it anymore as long as I'm doing the right things there is nothing more I can do.

Sharekia, I feel your pain! I was reading the post the other day where people put their weight loss and I couldn't believe how much everyone has lost! I lost 32 lbs the first month and only 2 1/2 the second...I will be 9 wks tomorrow and will weigh then, I try hard not to get on the scales that much (I have to use the ones in the nurses office here at work, I don't own any) just once a week to chart my progress. I KNOW how frustrating you feel right now and you have lost more than me I track my caloric intake on fitday.com...so maybe I need to increase my calories as some suggested to you? I normally only eat 500 - 600 a day. Oh well, I too, keep telling myself, let the surgery work!! Let me know how you do and if you get off this plateau! Bye for now, Michelle

I was told that you are on a platau if you don't loose for 4-6 weeks at all. Maybe since you are exercising more and drinking alot of water, you need to eat more. I was told by my Dr. that after surgery, you must eat 3 meals a day. Do not skip any meals...it's very important. So maybe, you really aren't eating enough. How many calories per day are you getting in? How much protein? This will help if you know. Tricia -50 lbs

Don't worry it will pass. Just last week I was feeling the same way. And posted my concern. I was stuck at -30 pounds after 2 months! I increased my food intake and have lost 8 pounds! I think by just making small changes to your daily routine you'll be able to break the plateau. Don't worry, it happens to all of us.. Latisha

Hi Sharekia- The key here is DO NOT WEIGH YOURSELF. Pay the scale no mind, continue to exercise, get in your liquids and vitamins and- where you can- eat a little more protein wise. I swear, I was in the same place you are now- a 3 week plateau just about- and then finally just said f*ck it! Went on about my business and then, miraculously, the scale started moving again. I only now weigh once/wk at the most, IF THAT, and I really don't put a lot into the numbers. Its all about how you FEEL, what you can WEAR and how much ENERGY you have. I truly believe this and I believe you will have success in your journey. Keep your head up, gurl- we're gonna be skinny minnies yet! your sistah in the struggle, Jess!

It seems like what the plateus are doing is taking off inches. If i get stuck at a weight for awhile i notice that i am losing inches. then i go back to pounds and that's how it's been ever since. pounds, inches, pounds, inches. It's too bad they can't move down together but oh well! Keep smiling at least you are headed in the right direction! Kristin
