Poll: What vitamins are you taking?
I am interested to hear what you all were specifically told to take post-op and how much.
1 multivitamin (I am taking One a Day Womens for now, but will probably switch)
Calcium - 1200mg
Iron (can't remember how much for this)
B-12 (can't remember how much for this either)
And as I mentioned in my other post, I was told to try to get in:
1000-1200 calories a day
50-55 grams of protein a day.
I am taking Iron and B-12, one pill of each a day, but I honestly can't remember how much I was told to take. I will have to check into that. I also should probably be taking one protein drink a day.
Hi there - I am also 10 weeks post op down from 332 to 275. I started taking expensive bariatric chewables - no more. They tasted sickening. I am now taking one prenatal from Wal-Mart, 1 Calcium Citrate, 1 Iron, I take 1 biotin, 1 zinc, 1 flaxseed oil every other day and one B-12 a week. Best wishes - we are about the same size!!!!
Here is what I take: (comments from nutrionist at dr's office)
2 Centrum Adult Chewables or 2 Wal-Mart Kids Chewables Multi-Vitamin - they both have the same amounts of everything including iron and vitamin K (K is important).
1 B1-100 Everyday - (B1 - deficiencies are common)
1 B12-1000 Every other day.
2000 mg of Biotin every day. Up from 1000 to start. (For hair, nails and skin)
1500 mg of Calcium Citrate - 750 twice a day. (Be sure not to take with multi-vitamin because it will bond with the iron).
I had the duodenal switch, so my vitamin intake is probably much different than most of yours... 11 vitamins a day (and it is still a struggle for me!)
2 Centrum Chewable Multivitamins
3 Vitamin A and D
3 Calcium Citrate
1 Zinc
1 Vitamin B Complex with folic acid (sublingual)
1 Iron
I also work to get in 100 grams of protein and 72 ounces of water. When I fall behind, my weight loss tends to slow down.

Hiya Jen! I take 2 chewable Flintstones Complete vitamins, 1 packet of Coromega daily which is the omega 3 fish oil, 1 sublingual B12 weekly, and 1200mg of liquid calcium daily. I'm 2 months post op and had labs drawn almost 2 wks ago, havent gotten the results yet so i'm not sure if i'll have to start iron or not. I was told by the anesthesia dept. just before my surgery that I was slightly anemic so i'm expecting it.
