Can't eat enough!!!
I was told that I need to get 1000-1200 calories and 50-55 grams of protein a day. Well i am averaging about 700-750 calories a day and 40-45 grams of protein. I just get full SO FAST! I am also slacking in the water dept. I need to get in 6-8 glasses a day and I get about 4. I know I am pathetic! And I just have to state for the record, I CANNOT take protein drinks, all the ones I've tried make me want to vomit... I just can't handle that, its torture to try and get one down. I can tolerate meat okay, but just never seem to get enough in. Is there anything else I can try to increase my food intake??? Before the surgery I was worried about being hungry all the time and eating too much, I NEVER expected this problem. You would think I would have incredible weight loss at this point, but its really just average. I am doing a lot of walking, but I find that I get tired very easily and don't have the stamina that I need to really keep my heartrate up. Any suggestions???

Are you drinking before you eat? If you are, don't do it. Hold off on fluids for at least 30 minutes before a meal and be sure you don't drink while you are eating. The liquid will keep you from eating enough.
Your body thinks you are starving. You need to increase your calories so you can lose. Also, you have got to get the fluids in. If the water is hard, try crystal light or something. Sip, sip sip all day long.
I have found that fish works for me and is a good source of protein. You might try that. Hope it gets better soon.
The dietician was all over me for the very same thing. She recommended eating SIX times a day-three meals and three snacks. I am trying but so far have failed.
Your best bets for protein are lean meat/fish/chicken. Eggs go down really easily for me, so they make a good source as well-they don't fill me up quite as easily. I made some chicken salad with Sam's Club rotisserie chicken (took the skin off and chopped it finely) and ff mayo the other day. It went down very easily and was very high in protein.
Protein shakes are a tough one to gag down. My dietician recommends adding powdered milk to regular milk to up the protein, but milk and I don't get along so very well right now.
Some people do very well with deli ham or turkey shaved or sliced thin.
And by the way, I think you DO have incredible weight loss at this point! You are doing great with the exercise if you are walking a lot. Just keep trying and the other stuff will fall into place.
Hugs,
Susan
I have issues with protein drinks also, but I have found one that is drinkable. I buy Nectar brand which is water soluable, my fav flavor is Fuzzy Navel, it still has a a little bit of a funny taste, and I add Crystal Lite sunrise orange to it and it is very good, and has lots of protein. Try drinking one of these at bedtime and some folks say a protein shake at bedtime helps with losing more weight
