Hi guys and dolls. I'm 8 weeks post op and am supposed to eat chicken, turkey and fish. Beef and pork arent supposed to be started until 6 months post. I did try a bite of meatloaf and it got stuck, bought killed me before it passed. I eat a lot of chicken, primarily because of the high protein count, and because i'm not much of a seafood fan. Any words of wisdom here? What are you guys eating for variety without losing the protein? Thanks for your help! Melanie

SAd to say....I can't offer you any advice because even with beef and pork in my diet I find it hard to get in variety.

Don't look at me. I'm living off of baked fish, shrimp and meatloaf. Chicken seems to make me throw up.

Hi Melanie, It is so easy to get sick of the same thing really fast. I am that way with eggs. I just experiment and if it doesn't work - try again in a week or two. I eat chicken, tuna, salmon, shrimp, pork, cheese, yogurt, protein shakes made with powder from GNC and Carb Countdown milk, protein bars, liverwurst, turkey, peanut butter, peanuts ****ep the shell ones on my desk at work - you get the motion of opening the shell and you just can't gulp them down real fast) Sure beats candy and the results...... Chicken burritos (frozen kind that is usually 4 for $1.00), refried beans, avocado, salsa, sour cream. Mexican food is just feeling so good on my tummy. Love it!!! I make pancakes and put in protein powder (unflavored from GNC), wheat germ, blueberries - they are good. Oatmeal with berries, GNC carries high protein cereals. If you live near a Costco - they make a wonderful caesar chicken salad where they sell the hotdogs etc. great price too. Chili, any kind of beans, feta cheese. I spend hours in the store now reading labels and looking for that high protein. I hope that helps give you an idea of things to try. Keep on trying things....it will get better. I am 10 weeks post op and I remember early on - I was taken back by food etc. Take care, Wendy

Wow - Wendy hit just about everything I would have suggested. One other thing to try is Tofu/Bean Curd. Now I know it might sound gross but I had it at a Chinese resturant and it was pretty tasty. It Bean Curd in brown sauce. But this place had other things to with Bean Curd. Would I want it night after night? No way. But just to throw a curve at you once in a while it was good. Try giving it a shot. John
