Hey Francis, Have you tried shakes or powders to get more protein? My doc has his post ops take Biotin, which is a b vitamin. He wants 2000 to 2400 mcg daily. This is supposed to help. Bought it at Winn Dixie. Good luck to you. By the way, how much weight have you lost? Most people loose at 50 to 60 pounds, is what I hear. Michele -35

Hi Francis,I don't have much advice. Have you contacted a Nutrictionist? (can't spell) I know I need to be getting more protien in. I tried a few protien drinks and they were awful!! But I'm able to eat salmon, tuna, chicken, beef. Try some different protein bars if you have'nt already. I'm going to Traders Joes on payday and buy a variety of differnt ones and see which ones I like. I also have ALOT of hair, and when I go to get my hair cut I always have to have my stylist thin my hair out. I been noticing more hais falling out and more on my shirt,so I know your anxiety. Up your Protein, and see what happens. Keep us posted.. Jeanne

Francis, try Unjury Protein Powder. This is NOT a commercial....lol I have found it to be a little expensive but the taste is very good. One scoop with 4oz. of 1% milk gives you 24 protein. I mix my chocolate and vanilla for a milk chocolate taste and add the unflavored to my SF Cherry Koolaid. It's great!! I also take the Biotin and so far no hair loss. I hope this helps. This is also a concern of mine as I already have fine, thin hair. Good Luck to ya.

I have a shake every morning without milk! and i get about 30g of protein in it. Get a whey or soy protein powder that doesn't have a ton of sugar in it and find a flavor you like. Most of them do not have dairy products or by products in them. You'll just have to read the label carefully. At GNC they have a quick desolving lemonade (yum!), chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, banana, and unflavored. I buy the choc, vanilla, and lemonade. ( I think the champion whey protein Stack is a no dairy, really good one) Usually i mix vanilla protein, orange juice and 4 frozen strawberries and blend. It's pretty good. I like the vanilla but my hubby like the no flavor powder in it. Then i have the lemonade in the afternoon and that's 60 g protein a day. I also like the peanut butter cup recipe witht the choc protein. If this sounds ok to you i have a ton of recipes if you want em. Just email me. I also have thick hair and was told even though i am not RNY and don't have malabsorbtion i had a good chance of losing some hair. Thankfully it hasn't happened and i am sure it's cause i get my protein+ a day. You aren't alone! Don't worry you'll figure it out and i am sure you still look gorgeous! Just take a hot (or cool! ) bath and relax! Good Luck Kristin

Hi Kristin. I think a lot of us would be interested in your recipes. I had my RNY the end of April, and I have been trying to find a better way of getting protein. Thanks for the advice. Peg

Hair loss is a side effect from the surgery. There is nothing you can do to stop it. I have read many post about this and the people who have had the surgery months, even years, say this. The good news is, they also say it will stop eventually and start to grow back. Your hair usually starts to fall out at around 2 ot 3 months from surgery. Every few people don't have this side effect. Good luck and know, most of us here are going to have the same issue. (If it hasn't started yet.) Dame Tooter and T. White are great people to ask questions. They are a few years out and have been through this. They are on the main message board just about everyday. I hope this helps.
