I love salad, but I've been afraid to try it. I hear lettuce can be difficult sometimes. I am interested to see what other people are doing also.

Anne, I had a grilled chicken salad from McD'd this week. It was great! I ate the chicken first and was very sure to chew well. I did also select the vinagrette dressing , as it is the only one that is low-fat. Not too bad. Ate about half. Michele Mason -34

I've had salad....alot of it and it's fine as a matter of fact it's one of my favorite foods, which is funny because before surgery i couldn't stand it......it tasted like dirt

I've had a little lettuce but not an actual salad. I've become exceedingly fond of seedless grapes, though. LOL

i LOOOOOOVE subway salads now. they last about 3 meals and i pitch the rest. i get the shredded lettuce w/ hard boiled egg, meat, feta cheese, bacon, and a few other veggies. i always ask for extra of the meats & cheese. i also get the honey mustard atkins dressing they serve. I LOVE IT! sometimes i'll eat it at home and add cottage cheese to it as dressing. they go down great and i've had no problems w/ them.

I'm a salad freak now that I can hold down food. I've had no probs with it. I make sure that I go heavy on the high protein stuff.

Hi Yvette - I am 8 weeks post op and at my last visit with the dietician she said shredded lettuce would be good to start with. I went right to the grocery and got a bag, went home and had my first salad in a long time. I added feta cheese, shredded mexican cheeses & tuna for proteins. Just a little salad dressing will satisfy me now. It all goes down easy! Linda

Suprisingly salad was easy for me thank goodness! Try this one! Strawberry spinach salad. Spinach, chopped berries, red (sweet) onions, boiled chicken cut into strips, and then a berry vinagrette (sp?) MMMMMMMM! it's my fave summer salad! good luck and just remember to go slow when trying new things! chew chew chew! Kristin

Yep, salad works for, but like some others have said I too try to get protein in with it - chicken, tuna, etc. Don't do what I did and have a bunch of salad without easing into it. For 8-9 weeks high protein diet and wham all the ruffage all at once. Not a pleasant experience, if you know what I mean.
