Emotional Eating
You are already halfway there! You've identified the time of day you eat/want to eat and you know you aren't hungry! That's great!
I am always willing to suggest things-even if I don't know diddly. So here goes: keep a journal-when you want to eat, make yourself stop, relax, and write at least a few sentences about how you are feeling at that time, what it is you want to eat, and why you think you want to eat it. It might just give you enough pause before trying it. Second, shake up your routine. Whatever you are currently doing at night seems to be triggering your desire to eat, so try doing something else with that time. If it could be emotional eating, try "gettin' some love"-get a hug from a family member or call a friend.
Like I said, I might not know diddly, but I am always eager to pretend I do .
Hugs,
Susan
I find myself wanting to eat at night as well. What has been working for me is reminding myself that I am not really hungry, then getting up and doing something to distract me for a while. I tell myself that if I do something for 30 minutes and then still want something to eat, I can have a snack. So far, I haven't still wanted something after 30 minutes.
I hope this helps.
