Just wanted to tell everyone hi and to make sure everyone is getting in there protein, and water. Also how many have added fruit to there diet. I had open and not allowed it yet. I love fruit so this is pretty hard. But I knew there would be times like these. Have a great day. tina

hi there tina! well as for protein and water i can say a big fat no too. every protein shake i have tried has been to thick and now i hurl everytime i drink one. so i try to get protein from my foods. i know i dont eat enough food to get my protein in but right now thats the best i can do.as for water i just started drinking it. it tasted like minerals and metal. yuk! so everyday i checked to see if i could drink it and finally last week it tasted awesome. as for fruit i can eat any of it! the only thing i wont eat is hard peels and rinds so i blanch my plums and grapes. i live on watermelon/ no seeds. i eat bananas for potassium and they taste so good cold. cherries are my new best friend yummy! lisa

Hi Lisa, I find that drinking decaffenated peppermint tea has help me get all my liquids in. I still working on getting all the protein in. I just started eating salad yesterday. It tasted really good. The nicest thing about all of this no longer do I have to eat diet salad dressing. I've only tried a little fruit. It's okay, but I won't die if I can't have it. I've tried tiny bited of chicken and tiny bites of roast beef. They stayed down well. Can't touch Chinese food. I get deathly sick. Fish so far doesn't agree with me. I try to reintroduce it in a couple of months. I'm down 55lbs. in only two months. I'm happy and getting in plenty of exercise. Take care, Dianna McGill

Hey Tina, Lets see I am eating okay now. I was not loosing weight on this stupid plataeu thing and I knew it was becuz I was not getting in enough food. So I just said hey I will eat whatever. And low and behold 2.5 lbs. gone. I have apples(I peel of course), tangerines and peaches, strawberries and it's great. I love the watermelon from the fruit stand up the street. It's so sweet and juicy. So I am not having a prob with anything. I did my first big shopping since the surgery and I got alot of good things cravings like my carrots, pickles, and cucumbers. cheese and crackers. Yesturday I went to Red Lobsters and got lobster rolls. (almost like a eggroll) Didn't eat it all but what I did taste I was happy for. Doc says 1 new food a day will help me keep taps on what is good and what I dump on. So, so far I just dump on FAT/fried foods. Can't do. Today after church I had about 5 tine bites almost little leafs actually of there salad and about 5 spoonfulls of the Zuppa Toscana soup from Olive Garden. I know this is long but I wanted to share that I feel good about what I eat. I only have a few bites. I don't overdo. I am not hurting my pouch. So I don't want to live on dirt either. As long as the pounds come off I am happy. So the time is comeing soon. Enjoy!!!

I had open rny on 5/18/04 and was allowed to eat applesauce, peaches, pears, plums, cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple, bananas, honeydew melon, fruit ****tail, mango, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and prunes at 4 weeks after surgery. I have been able to tolerate everything I have tried. For those of you who are having trouble downing protein drinks, try this recipe that I got from my bariatric services.. 4 cups 1% milk 1 cup dry skim milk 1 tub of crystal light drink mix. mix all together, refrigerate for 2 hours and enjoy!!!! the orange, strawberry, banana flavor is really good---so is the sunrise orange!!!
