incision care
My RNY was open, and I have a really long scar (about 9 inches, from between my breasts to my naval). I had the dissolvable stitches and I have healed up quickly and easily without complications, but I'm gonna have one heck of a scar! I was wondering what others are doing to care for their incision to cut down on the appearance of the scar? I had thought about getting some vitamin E capsules to break open and rub on my stomach. Anybody out there doing something the "pamper" their incision site?
Thanks for the ideas!
Hey Jennifer, you can get some Mederma, it's a cream for surgical scars. They sell it at drugs stores and places like Walmart..or Target. Hopes this helps. Here is the site
http://www.mederma.com/
I used vitamin E cream. It worked just as well as mederma for me and it was a lot cheaper. I got mine at wal-mart.
i know that mederma does work too so as long as it is something you should be fine. The vit.e cream is better than the capsules cause it rubs in completely instead of leaving you greasy or oily.
I also "massage" my scars so that they don't get hard and pronounced. (I had AGB but i have 4 smaller scars and 1 bigger one)
Good luck on your journey!
