Surgery May 7th, 2004
I am two month out and have lost 26 pounds. I am very happy with this but at times I get a little down when I hear how much others have lost. I get in 60-80 grams of protein a day, about 64 ozs. of fluids and walk 5-6 days a week between 2-3 miles. So I am doing everything I am suppose to and still losing slowly. I guess I am the turtle slow but steady.
Have a great day.

Hi Patsy,
I share your joy and feel your pain. I'm 6 weeks and a day out and have lost 22lbs at last weight check a few days ago. We just have to stay focused on the positive side...we are losing. We are likely to keep losing and not hit those plateaus everyone talks about and maybe have less sagging skin. Plus, I don't know about you, but I'm healthy as a horse right now. Good luck!!!

My surgery was on the 10th and have been in a plateau for weeks. I lost fast then just stopped. I don't know how long this lasts but I am surely ready for it to get rolling agian. I am drinking my water and doing protein. Not like I should but I get it in. I would like to see something move. I don't see how our body can hold this weight when we are not eating. Hmmm
hi,
i'm down 29 1/2 in 8 weeks (tomorrow) and take much comfort in the fact that there are many many of us that didn't lose 50 #'s the first week!! i was sure i had screwed things up somehow as really didn't have a pureed food stage or any dumping experiences. i am tolerating most foods well, good and bad, and know that i will be successful if i stick to tried and true rules....................................

Hi,
I had my surgery May 11... I have also been so depressed about my weight.. I am down 34 pounds.. I have not have any problems eating at all. No dumping, the only time I throw up is if I eat leftovers.. that doesn't sit well with me, but other than that, I drink like 70 ozs of fluids a day, 1-2 protein shakes and 3 small meals.. and I just can't seem to make the scale move as fast as I would like it. I know I can't and shouldn't compare myself to others and I am so happy for all the post-ops that are doing so well, I guess I wish I could loose more and feel like I fit in more with everyone else.... I know my time will come.. GailK
I feel your pain! My surgery was 5/17 and I'm down about 25 pounds. Sometimes it's depressing to read how much other's have lost but I feel good to know that I'm not alone. Plus we are still on the losing side and that's what counts!
Hey look at the bright side.. by loosing slower.. we'll have more time to build muscle and be less likely to need reconstructive surgery to remove excess skin

I wasn't going to reply to this post because I am trying not to think about the fact that my loss has REALLY slowed down. Like all of you, I am trying to stay poistive, think about ayear from now, stick to eating what I should and getting in the liquids.... it is TOUGH. Since we all put all our drama out here on this board, I'll go ahead and say it- I think I'm going to try to go back to my therapist cuz I need some reinforcement and I don't know with everything else going on, if I can trust myself to be positive 100% of the time, especially when I KNOW I'm working and things are not happening. Just a suggestion for anyone who is feeling this way... work it out in therapy, baby!
Emma Lou, My surgery was May 5, 2004 and I too have started loosing slowly. I am 9 weeks plus out and I have lost 37. The past 3 weeks I have only lost 2 lbs per week. You know what though...I told my husband just as long as I loose the 2lbs per week I will be just fine. It is very discouraging when you read the post on this board sometimes about people that drop almost unbelievable weight. I try and remember that before the surgery everytime I got on the scale I had gained. So, I know this surgery was an incredible blessing!!! Let's stick together and hang in there. Have a great week...ByeBrenda
