Stomach - pain ??
Do any of you have a tearing /burning--(sort of like a pulled muscle) feeling right below your left rib cage ? I have had this for the past 4 weeks and while it seems to be getting better ..it hurts like heck to sleep on my left side ( once I roll back over --that area is sore to the touch) ...or when I sit for a period of time it hurts or , of course, when I lift something that is a little too heavy ... I am wondering if it will ever go away and I only see my doctor the 3rd month ( which will be August) and have emailed him and he seems to think it will work itself out ..but 4 weeks already ?? I find it funny that it didn't feel like this the first month out ..know what I mean ? If you have any thoughts ///please share !!
I didn't have lap ...I had open but still have that pain .. Misery loves company so I am glad I am not in this alone but I wish none of us had to deal with this pain.. I can not even blow up a balloon or take a deep breath without it hurting I just don't want any adhesions where they are going to have to go back in and repair ...yuck ..but I know there are much much more worse cases/side effects from the surgery than this so I should be thankful, right ? If anyone finds out from there doctor what could be causing the problem...let me know !
I do know that the left side is where your new pouch and stomach is and the right side is where your gallbladder is so those that are having the right sided pain may be experiencing gall bladder problems ? Who knows ..I'm no doctor but just trying to help ! LOL

I have the same pain. I have had it since I woke up from surgery. Every time I call my doctors office they just tell me "give it more time". Finally I called today and told them they better do something or I am going to be making some phone calls that they might appreciate it if I didn't (Medical Board or The hosptal). I am NOT happy with my doctor at all.
Anyway....I am going to have a CT scan done tomorrow to look out a possible hernia (which I dought) or any adhesions. Hopefully I will get some answers with that.
Good Luck

Hi Kathy
Well I had my CT done. Turns out I just have alot of adhesions. Doc said if it doesn't go away with in 3 months then he will have to go back in and clean up the scar tissue.
The radiologist let me see my CT films...it was really cool I could see the little pouch and the seperate stomach. Looked pretty cool
Thanks for caring...
Kerry
Actually, with RNY according to my surgeon, my pouch is at the male nipple line in my chest. That's the reason that if feels like a crushing pain in the middle of my chest when I overeat or eat something that doesn't agree with my pouch.
The left side pain is below my rib cage where the most brusing is from the surgery, sort of where the old stomach would be (it's still there, but has contracted to the center since surgery, as I was told. The pain is actually part of the healing process, and is getting much better as time passes.
