Have u hit a plateau yet?
I started my journey at 226 lbs the day of surgery. I was thrilled that after 6weeks I was down 35 lbs to 190. However, that was 2 weeks ago and my weight hasn't budged since!! I know it's temporary, and things will change soon since there is no way my body can maintain 190 lbs with what I'm eating. I just wondered if any of my "loser" friends are going through it with me!!

Nicola
Hi Nicola,
YUP!! I just hit my 1st plateau at 4 weeks!! So consider yourself lucky!! I lost 33 lbs. in 4 weeks... and then didn't budge all week... I was back on liquids too... and not able to get any food in... so I thought sure I was losing... but I finally budged yesterday and am down another 1.5 lbs. ~~ So, it will pass and they say it is completely normal to hit this plateau (and many more in our future too!!) ~~
Remember too, that your body sometimes thinks it is starving, as it is then holding on to everything it can, and you won't lose. With what we are eating (or not eating as the case may be), our bodies do think they are starving... and it has now realized that we are serious about this weight loss... and that we aren't going to feed it... so, it's going to try to adjust itself to this new way of life!!
Good luck!!

I knew I wouldn't be alone in this.....I should be Miss Patient given that it took 18 months to actually get to have this surgery. It's funny how dependant you get on seeing that number change on the scale. I didn't even own one for the longest time, and then all of a sudden I caved and bought one. I know it's just temporary, and that this will pass....it's just nice to know there are others experiencing it with me. As for energy, I haven't been excersizing because I had a very rough recovery and got quite ill. At my 6 week appointment, the surgeon felt I was still quite dehydrated. I think because of that, I have been very light headed and dizzy. I know that this is also holding me back.....so I need to kick it in the pants....I'm getting ready to do that now that I'm feeling stronger. I'm also trying to get better with the protein. I hate the drinks, but I just ordered the carribean cooler nectar protein powder....and I'm hoping that is more to my liking! I will keep everyone posted. At the moment I drink the Dr.Phil shape-up drinks and have found them to be the most palatable, but they must be going out of production because I can't seem to find them anymore!!
Anyways, thanks for the support and encouragement.......and congrats to you both on your success!!
Hugs,
Nicola
Hi Nicola, We have the same surgery date It seemed like in the begining the weight was coming off so fast but now Im only losing about a pound a week. sometimes not even that. I'm down 40lbs from 240lbs. At around 5 weeks out I didn't lose for about a week then all of a sudden I lost 6 lbs now Im not losing again. It's driving me crazy. I want to break 200lbs so bad. Karen
Hey Karen!! You will break 200.....I know you will. I was surprised to hit a plateau this early on...and I'm sure hoping it ends soon. I'm going to Vegas on Friday for the July long weekend, and I know my sister will have my legs about worn off with walking....so I hope that's what gets my weightloss moving again. It's frustrating for sure, but on the amount we eat there is no way the body can hold out at these weights. I was frustrated so I started reading profiles of people who've reached their goal, and that gives me the push I need to know that this isn't going to last forever.
Good luck to you all!!
Nicola
