Sugar
I'm avoiding it like the plague. Dumping sounds like a major panic attack, and I don't EVER want to even risk that. Still, sugar sneaks its way into things like peanut butter and saltines, and so far I'm doing fine with those. I'm so freaky about it, I even bought some sugar-free spaghetti sauce. Not that I plan to eat spaghetti, mind you. I heat a small amount and dip my string cheese into it. I HAVE been craving meatballs in spag sauce-the guts of a Subway meatball sub would do nicely-but I may have to make some here at home.
My first week I had some so-called "low carb" fruit juices, which I diluted 50/50, before I found some Crystal Light I could live with.
For my sugar cravings, I have a SF strawberry creme saver. Yum.
Hugs,
Susan
I avoid it like the plague also. I don't dilute my fruit juices (never have). For my sweet tooth I do the karb karma Ben & Jerry's ice cream made with splenda. I did break down and buy Ben & Jerry's Lite it tasted much better but it is still made with sugar substitutes. there is some sugar in it but it is way down the llist of ingredients.
I cannot stand anything "sweet." It literally makes me gag. Now, I have eaten things that I know have sugar in them, like peanut butter. But if something is considered a sweet treat, I simply can't handle it. I guess that's a good thing! I hope it's not permanent, though...I'd hate to imagine going the rest of my life without another bite of ice cream!
I was sorta bad today. I ate 2 bites of a oatmeal raisin cookie (my favorite!). No dumping and I felt fine, but 2 bites was plenty. The first bite tasted great... the 2nd bite was not so good. I'm almost disappointed I didn't dump. Mostly I stick with sf popsicles or fudgsicles when I get a sweet attack. Like the rest of you, I generally read the labels and stay away from the sugars, but I had a weak moment today. Mostly, juice just feels thick and syrupy in my mouth. ICK! I just can't drink it.
I had a run-in with sugar and it ran me over like a mack truck! My son is in marching band and I go to his parades. Parades.....candy......gum. Well being "good" and remembering not to eat the candy was pretty easy, however, even though you don't "eat" gum, trust me, DON'T. I was thrown a piece of grape bubble gum, and not thinking I popped it into my mouth. Needless to say it was not sugar-free. I spent the last 1/3 of the parade in the bathroom, praying for it to stop. I will NEVER put another piece of bubble gum or any gum that is not sugar free in my mouth again! Live and learn Kathy H.
