ANYBODY ELSE A SLOW LOSER!!!!
I had surgery on May 7 and I have lost 21.5 in seven weeks. I am a little disappointed but I also know I am thankful for losing this weight and not gaining. Most days I stay up beat and know the next year will bring some major changes but every now and then I get really disappointed when I see how much others have lost. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others. Just a little vent. I wish everybody a good journey with wls.

Emma,
Have you measured yourself yet?? If you haven't then go quickly and start measuring yourself. I keep a weekly log of measurments and weights so that if the scale doesnt move then usually an inch or two are gone from somewhere, even if it is my pinky toe!!! LOL!! It's good to vent though, that is what we are here for!! Good luck and I think 21.5 lbs are marvelous. When you are 18 months out you will be thankful that you are that much closer to your goal weight!!! Take care and be safe.

Emma,
Thinking of you in Kentucky...I think that's the hardest part of this surgery is comparing ourselves to others...You've lost about 3 lbs a week...that is really an ideal weight loss!!! If it comes off slower it will stay off longer Besides think of it like this...the first time you get to bite into a juicy steak...will you devour it in one bite, or take your time and enjoy each little morsel? the later i think Slow and steady!!
Best wishes,
Michelle
i feel that i am a slow loser compared to most on the boards, too, having lost 27 1/2 #'s in 6 weeks. i am eating just about everything i want and clothes are fitting so much better. i did have a few clothing "goals" in mind that i don't think i'm going to meet by the wedding, class reunion, etc. but slow and steady will win this life-long race........................
good luck to us both.

Hi Emma Lou,
I believe we're pacing very close in weight loss. I had surgery May 25th and have lost around 18lbs. I do know it's slower than most, but that's just the way it is. So long as we're sticking with our surgeon's guidelines it will come off. But, if you ever need to vent...vent on...I'm sure I'll understand completely.

Hi all,
I feel I am in the slow losing bracket as well. My date was May 13th and I feel the scale is stuck. I am down to 235 from 262.4. I am expected to be down 20 lbs from my post op visit of 242.2 by July 9th. Feel there is no way I am getting there! I know that I am following the guidelines and I have severe hypothyroidism right now. I am a thyroid cancer patient with active recurrent cancer and since surgery I have had major absorption issues with my meds. My levels are over 37 times what they should be. I gained 8 lbs in one day due to period fluid retention (all time record for me). Fortunately that is gone and I know that when my meds are regulated, the weight will do its thing!! It just doesn't make it any easier and I can't help but compare my weight loss to everyone elses. You all are the greatest and good luck to us all at the beginning stages of our new journey. Love, Jaime
This week was a slow week for me also...but, inches are falling off!!
I am walking approximately 2 miles a day, and work out on my Gazelle for 20 - 30 minutes a day.
I have not measured yet...but I am going to do that tomorrow. I wish I had done it before surgery...but, I kept forgetting!!
Good luck! Jeannie
i have lost about 40 pounds. I had surgery on 5/4/04 I feel good about losing the weight a little slower than most because the skin won't be as flabby. My clothes are getting big and then there's the clothes that I never thought that I would be able to wear. Yes, I finally can pull those clothes out and wear them, at least for a while. I'm forming a scrap book to monitor my weight loss, I guess it'll be a long book.
