Birth Control

Right now I'm taking Seasonale bcp and using abstinence. I started the Seasonale because I so LOATHE my period that it sounded great to have one only ever three months. I guess I should hurry on over to get my own Nuvaring...I talked to some company reps at a teen pregnancy prevention conference last year and they handed out mock rings on keychains. It seems manageable enough and I'm not squeamish about insertion or removal. The cool thing with the ring is that hormone levels remain even and constant the whole 3 weeks instead of going up and down like they do with the pill. I don't think I have any spots on my body that would be good for a patch. I'd do an IUD but what I read said that if you've had bad pap smears you aren't a good candidate (I had some precancerous stuff). If you aren't comfortable doing the insertion/removal of the Ring, you might check to see if your partner is. Given a choice between that and condoms... Hugs, Susan

Hi Loree, My doctor said the same about the pill, I don't think they really know why, but I really would not chance it. I personally love the IUD. I don't know why it gets such a bad rap though. It works great for me. I had my first one put in a couple of years ago (it was only a one year one-which they don't make anymore) took it out to have a baby, had no problems with conception. Then I recently put in my second one in Jan. in prepartion for this surgery. (which is a 5 yr one called Mirena). I only plan to keep it in for a year then maybe (maybe) have another child. Hi everyone, Wow I had no clue the pill will not work after the surgery and I didn't even ask my doctor. I am a newlywed still so my husband is complaining already so I have to so something to prevent pregnancy. I was going to start the pill on Sunday but now I don't know what to do. I guess my husband will be complaining till I figure this one out LOLOL. Kristen
