shoulder pain
Hi Everyone,
I had an open r.n.y. on May 17th. In the last 2 weeks I have been experiencing pain in my left shoulder on my back side just below the neck but above the ribs. This pain comes on very suddenly and last approx. 10-15 seconds. The pain is very severe and has a sharpe burning feeling.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If anyone might know why this is happening or how can I help the pain, please let me know. Thanking everyone in advance, and hope that you are all doing great.
I agree that you should contact your Dr. immediately. especially with any pain in the left arm or shoulder. I had a similar pain and was told it was a result of surgery and the "inflation" of the abdomen for laporoscopic surgery. I was told it would go away and it has. Good luck, let us know how you make out. Su
I had this problem. I had my surgery on 5/11 and 3 days after I went home I started having severe pain in my left shoulder. It felt like it was almost in the joint. I've never had joint problems before so I went to the doc. At first they thought it was where the gas settles in the shoulder but the pain never went away. I went back a week later and ended up having to go to 3 weeks of physical therapy. What I suspect it was is where they had me straped to the surgery table and were rough moving me around. When I woke up after surgery I didn't complain about anything except for a pain in my back (that didn't exist prior to surgery). I know that other people have had this problem to. Some people say that it is a sign of complications but in my case it was just the nursing staff getting too rough while I was out cold. Good luck and Get Well!
