I'm not losing fast enough am I ?
I'm 3 weeks post op and only down 12 pounds? I am still on liquids mostly. I don't get enough fluids probably. My exercise is very little. I started doing water exercise for an hour at our new neighborhood pool. I just started that last week. I've went one day because of the rain the rest of the week. I feel my cloths fitting better and I can feel my body is getting smaller, but the pounds are not coming fast enough. Please let me know how you all are doing. I would like to know how the older post ops are doing. I'm 51 years old. Waiting to hear from you guys. Good luck and congrats to all.

HI JUDY, I HAD MY SURGERY MAY 5TH. I AM DOWN ABOUT 27 LBS. I AM 58 YEARS OLD. DO YOU KNOW THERE'S A 50'S FORUM. REALLY NICE PEOPLE THERE WITH LOTS OF INFORMATION. ITS CALL OVER 50 FORUM MESSAGE BOARD. MOST OF US IN OUR 50'S SEEM TO LOOSE A LITTLE SLOWER, BUT THAT'S OK, WE'RE STILL LOOSING. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY. TRUDY
Ok sweetie, first off Muscle weighs more than fat, and everybody loses pounds differently. If your clothes are feeling better, and you are noticing a difference I say you are doing great!!! I am 32, had my surgery may 24th. I have lost 30lbs by my first post op appt. I notice a difference in my face, but not my clothes yet. I am dying to drop clothes sizes. Even if the scale says I weigh 300lbs, and I wear a size 10 I would be happy, LOL. I guess it doesn't work that way though, huh. You are doing fine, just keep up the good work and water exercises are great and not alot of stress on the joints. Best of luck sweetie!!-Melissa
Well, I just went to my 3 week appointment. I've lost a total of 18 pounds (lost 13 the first week). I was greatly disappointed. I'm in my mid 40's. The doc says he is pleased. Anything over 2.5 or 3 pounds a week is meaningless and just represents water loss in his opinion.
Don't feel all alone. You aren't.
Hey Judy! I had my surgery the same day as you (Lap RNY) and have lost about 17 lbs. I feel like I too am losing slowly. BUT.....I'm losing!!! So I suppose if I didn't know about thousands of others who have had this surgery, and I wasn't able to compare myself to them, I'D BE PLEASED AS PIE TO LOSE THAT 17 LBS!!! So remind yourself you are an individual and your body will do only what your body is gonna do...not what everyone elses is gonna do. CONGRATS ON YOUR 12 LB WEIGHT LOSS!!! Cheryl
i am 52 and have lost 22 1/2 pounds, all in the first 3 weeks. i know i shouldn't be jumping on the scale, daily, but that's the first thing i think of in the morning, hoping to see some "reward." i know my clothes are fitting better and something good has to be happening inside as i'm eating a fraction of what i used to. it just would be nice to see some loss every few days.......................................

I'm 3.5 weeks post op and I've lost 21 lbs. For the past 1.5 weeks, I've only lost 1 lb. so I guess I'm at a plateau. It's pretty darned frustrating but then I think....if it weren't for this surgery, I wouldn't have lost that much so then I get ok. I'm trying to remain patient about the weight loss. I've been eating properly, exercising, and drinking liquids. I guess I'm a slow loser. RATS!!!! I have, however, dropped a dress size...from a 24 to a 22! I thank God for it all.
Hi Judy,
I had my surgery on 5/28/04. I've only lost 12lbs. and was thinking the exact same thing. I've decided not to focus on the weight loss, but focus on drinking enough fluids and eating enough protein. As you know, the water will aid in the loss of pounds and the protein keeps us from loosing our hair. (Who want's a skinny, bald woman?) Hang in there!

I had surgery on May 7th and am down 45 pounds in 6 weeks. I lost 21 pounds the first 1 1/2 weeks, then plateau'd for 2 weeks. I was very depressed about the plateau but my Dr. told me it would pass and it has. I was 400+ at time of surgery, so that may be why my numbers look larger than some. I also feel that I am not losing fast enough, but from reading various posts it seems we all feel that way. Good luck to all!
