Hi, I understand your having a hard time. I haven't had surgery yet, but I understand it's normal to have some problems. Sounds like your doing every thing their telling you to do, just not being successful at it. Maybe you need to relax and take a deep breath. You know stress can really mess you up. Well I'm pulling for you I know you can do it. Don't be so hard on yourself. Go slow eating the protein and small sips of liquids between, you can do it. It's a new beginning. your in my prayers. Hi Francis
I had my surgery on 5/11/04. I wish I could offer you some advice but I can't. All I can say is I know exactly how you are feeling. I cry to my surgeon alot, about dehydration and malnutrion. I feel so exhausted and he just tells me it's normal and will pass. His nurse told me if I was truley dehydrated that my eyes would sink more inwards and I would have dark circles under my eyes. It's that a crock! I feel like I need to be put in the hospital with a I.V. just to get my fluids in. On a good day I am lucky to get in 20 ozs. A lot of people tell me this is normal. But I really have a hard time with that...because this can't be normal. I also know of some post ops that did get so sick from lack of substance that they were put in the hospital for weeks at a time. I feel like that is coming. I just want to prevent that. When I went to church today I actually was on the verge of blacking out. I could feel my eyes start to roll back. That can't be normal....
I am happy to know that I am not the only one with this problem and that I am not going crazy. Like I have heard many many times...this shall pass. You are in my prayers...let me know if you find any ways to feel more "normal".
Oh yeah...have you felt like this has affected your weight loss???

Kerry,
My doctor said my weight loss is great but I can't help to feel it has slowed down but let me tell you this thing of being tired all the time is getting the best of me there is day's I can't even get out of and I feel that is not a good thing at all and they tell me the same it will pass and I say when it has been a month and I am tired of my butt dragging the floor but I guess there is nothing I can really do well I hope to talk with you soon....
If you like crystal lite, I take Unjury protein with a little crystal lite, and about 4 oz of water. Shake it real good maybe add an icecube and it tastes just like crystal lite. Each scoop of unjury has 20grams of protein, so I do it twice a day. I use the unflavored Unjury. Hope this helps, and good luck-Melissa
I put a scoop of unjury, then add the dry crystal lite, then add the 4oz of water, then I shake it real hard. I use like a tupperware cup with lid. I tried using a spoon, and had clumps, but when I shake it, there are no clumps. Sometimes I add a few ice cubes after I shake it and sip it like a nice glass of ice tea.
try the proteins like Isopure alpine punch. they are like koolaid but have I believe 20 grams of protein a serving. That might help.
You are approaching 6 weeks post op. Are you eating regular food yet? I had surgery the same day and I spent 3 weeks of full liquids and 3 weeks of soft solid foods. I am now in regular food. I get most of my protein from food with the occasional protein shake in the morning when my stomach feels real tight.
