3 weeks post-op, nauseated from water??
My surgery was on 5/25 and I have lost 29 lbs so far. I am having trouble getting in my water each day. It really makes me nauseated. I was wondering if anyone knows why this is? I can keep down shaved ice but when it comes to water, I get sick. Anyone else have this problem??
Thanks all and it's great to be on the losing side!
Misty
Hi, When I talked to the dietician I can't spell today, she told me I could add a little lemon to the water if I wanted. What about Iced tea or some of the other sugerless drinks noncarbonated (Cyrstal Lite). Jello none of these stay down? I haven't had surgery yet but I can't wait to be on the losing side with you. You sure need those fluids keep trying. Doris
P.s. Maybe your Dr. could give you some meds. for it call his nurse and ask.
Misty, I'm almost 4 weeks out and still cannot drink water. I drink Propel and it goes down without problems. I also like that it gives me 20 extra calories per bottle. Give it a try! Kim
PS If you can't find Propel, I've also had the Adirondack frui****er (0 calories). I don't think it goes down as smoothly but I can do 3 bottles a day. Also, today I stopped at Burger King and had a regular Minute Maid Lemonade Light. It was good. Remember, CarbCountdown milk, skim milk, soy milk...all go toward your final liquid intake of the day.
I feel your pain!!! I too had my surgery 5/25 (must be the date) and regular water makes me nauseated. If it's super cold i'm ok. If it's crystal light, i'm ok. But plain room temp. water is baaaaaad. I found some Atkins brand "crystal light" but it's made w/ splenda instead of the aspartame. I just got it yesterday at a GNC but haven't tried it yet. I like splenda better cuz that aspartame is BAD NEWS. Sugar free or regular popsicles (that are with in the guidlines) are a great source of "liquid" too. Between my protein shakes, popsicles, V8, crystal light, and yogurt smoothies I JUST BARELYmake my 8 glasses of liquids a day. Good luck and let me know if you find the answer! Cheryl
Yep, it must be a 5/25 thing! I have trouble with room temp. water. I do OK if it is ice cold. Crystal Light Lemonade has been about all I can drink and I struggle to get in my required amount each day. I'm also struggling getting in my protein. I think I will order some of the Roadside Lemonade that is a protein drink. Maybe that will help me.
You are not alone. Good luck.

I agree!! My surgery was on 5/25 also and I am struggling with everything. I can't seem to get in my protein because I am lactose intolerant and I can't get all my liquids in either. I have been back in the ER due to severe dehydration even. I try really hard but my stomach always hurts when I drink. It is weird.
Well, I have intermittent nausea with water. It's weird and it only started the other day. I'm another one of the 5/25 surgery group. The temp of the water makes no difference and there are times when even the thought of putting anything in my mouth makes me a little queasy. But, fortunately it passes. I hope for those of you who are having more trouble that it will get better for you really soon.
