Tons of water, I haven't been counting everyday, I just keep a sipper or bottle with me at all times. The days I have counted are usually around 70oz.
Hi Shelly,
I am 3 weeks post op tomorrow and I have lost only 12 pounds. I have trouble with fluid retention because of my Congestive Heart Failure. My directic meds have been reduced to a minimal amount and it's hard to keep from having weight gain. I am 51 years old and came out of the surgery 100%. If I didn't have the drain whole and 5 slits on my belly I would think the doc didn't do the surgery. I feel really good and have alot of energy most of the time. I have a problem drinking anything. It feels like it doesn't want to go down and that makes me uncomfortable. I feel like it is stuck in my throat. I take quite alot of meds and I take the whole pills a few at a time and it seems to work. It does feel like they are stuck in my throat and I drink more liquids to get it all the way down sometime. Sorry, got off the subject. My usual days meal when I am not trying something new and paying for it with nausea, pain and dumping!
AM - nothing usually, sometime a Adkins Advantage Protein Shake, sometime just juice or crystal light
Noonish - 1/2 to 1 cup soup (usually broth mixed with cream chicken or mushroom soup (45% less sodium and 96% fat free) HEB brand here in Texas
Snack - 1 serving cup Kozy Shack No Sugar Added Chocolate or Tapioca Pudding
Liquid Intake - More Diet or No sugar added Fruit Juice, Herb Tea, Tomatoe Juice Low Sodium, Diet Nestea w/Lemon & Sweet n Low, water, whole milk, whole milk w/sugar free Nesquick chocolate mix
Snack - Sugar Free popsicles 2 at a time ( this is the easiest thing to ingest and I sometimes have at least 6 a day)
Supper - 1 to 2 cups soup (varies I experiment with ingredients)
Snack - SF popsicles or Kozy Shack pudding
I have tried mashed potatoes/gravy and macaroni & cheese and after I ate about 1/2 cup of each I felt a cold sweat come over me, I felt like I needed to throw up and tried to, but was not successful enough. I felt like food was stuck and would not go down or up. For about an hour I felt horrible. Thought I was going to pass out.
I don't count how much liquid I take in, and I need to make sure it's enough. Maybe that's why I am losing so slow. I can really tell with the way my cloths fit and you can tell when your body is getting smaller. I am perplexed as to why the weight loss is only 12 lbs? The protein is about 30 to 50 per day, not everyday though.
Gotta go for now. Keep in touch.
