Head Hunger Demon
Hi Sharekia,
One of the things that this surgery has done for me is to be able to tell the difference between head hunger and stomach. I see commericals and think that looks so yummy - but my tummy is saying no way.
I am almost 4 weeks post-op and I would prefer to not eat, I have no interest in food. I hear that gets better.....but I know what you mean about the head hunger........
Just remind yourself on how you would feel if you were to try something right now and probably get sick. I don't want that - so I avoid it. You will eventually be able to have more of a selection - but it will be awhile.
Good Luck,
Wendy

Sharekia - you will have to go to my profile and check it out. Head hunger was driving me crazy too, almost as soon as I got home from the hospital. I knew I had to do something or I'd go berzerk! I bought a book entitled When Food Is Love and that has helped me understand what's going on in my brain with food. I didn't get morbidly obese from eating when I was hungry... I got that way from trying to keep suppressed feelings and emotions that I've had to deal with since I was a small child. I was always obese, even as a child, and I am just now trying to get in touch with that little girl to find out why she had to stuff her face rather than deal with things in a normal way. I have also found a therapist to go to who I hope will help me get to the point of understanding myself in a way that will be constructive - not destructive. The weight loss surgery will only satisfy your tummy, your brain and your heart require something else. Good luck!
